Skied Round Top on Sunday with my son. Coverage is continuous and solid on the Sisters run down to Round Top lake. Perfect corn!! It's a long walk for a short shot, but always a nice day in the mountains. Only ran into one other friendly boarder from Reno, and a couple of skiers on the face shots under the couloir. In contrast, we skied Lassen on the eclipse weekend in May and the coverage was fat. Skied a couple laps on Diller on Saturday, and then joined the masses for the Lassen Peak trek on Sunday. Fun crowd with amateur astronomers, shastafarians, tourists and, of course, skiers.

big ups to dads and lads
Yeah, in the Tahoe area I'd put money on Sisters area having the longest continuous pitch and 'run.'. I'd go this weekend but it's more of a Summer family trip to Tahoe this weekend.
Monday is really my only day unless I can bug out Sunday afternoon and drive somewhere
^
I may be able to make it up to Carson Pass on Monday.
PM sent.

Went up to spend a few days soaking up the sun but due to cool and windy weather we decided to bail back to SF on Saturday. Here are some Instagram shots:

Saturday
Yeah, I know, not skiing related, but anyone here know anything about camping in Sonoma that costs less than a motel room?
First World Problems department....
As a practical matter, how much will it cost me to heat an outdoor hot tub in Tahoe during the winter? Trying to decide whether to investigate seriously.
It may be a first world problem but a spa is right up there with universal health care as the sign of a progressive modern society.
Our winter electric usage for a 1700 sf house with an outside spa (350 gallons) forced air natural gas heat, and electric hot water is anywhere from 900 to 2200 kwh/month at about 13 cents per kwh. My impression is that most of the variation is due to the forced air heat, since we have big, south facing single pane windows so the amount of time the furnace is on is very weather dependent, the spa less so.We're here full time. The 2200 is an outlier--January 2011. Up to 1500 is more typical. Hope that helps. PM me if you'd like to discuss further.
The last hot tub we owned was a Hot Springs model for up to about 6 people. The Hot Springs tubs are well insulated and are significantly lower in volume of water than some tubs.
In straight up dollar costs, we found our electric bill was a consistent $20-25 a month more with the tub kept at temperature with no refills. In months where we refilled the tub, or after an extensive power outage would necessitate reheating, the cost was more like $70-80 extra. We had experimented with putting it on a timer, but quickly found that keeping a tub at temperature was cheaper than letting it cool and reheating.
YMMV
Congrats on the new place!
Thanks, all. Good to have real-world feedback. Sounds like it might be worth taking advantage of a late-season deal or watching Craigslist, assuming that I confirm that there really is a 220v line below the deck.
Mt. Lola delivered in spades eilen: mudslides, antlered bucks, cud chewing & milk guzzling cows, oh yeah and some serious summer schuss.
On the subject of first world problems--paddle board yoga on Donner Lake? Really? (But I probably shouldn't talk--I took my dog for acupuncture--and it worked.)
Hey everyone, if you're bored this weekend there will be a supermoto race in Virginia City. Stop by the Reno Supermoto pits and ask for change... You will be rewarded with beer and sausage.
