nahhh, if it's chattery you hit it at the wrong time. Being retired, he can choose the right time
.
Squaw was entertaining yesterday although no freeze and Gold Coast runs were slow right from the start. A few of the shady groomers off Shirley had a bit of a freeze but didn't last too long. Explored a bit and hiked the Funnel and up near Corkscrew but snow was pretty summery, slidey and slow. Ended up hiking Palisades to ski National and hit North Bowl from the top with permission from Patrol. North Bowl was by far the best being mostly a minimal bumpy non super-slush corn lap with an adequate pitch.
Skied a couple of the 4th of July chutes today, lower gate on Blackwood canyon still locked, stashed the bike at 6900 feet, skinned and skied back to the bike from there

Chickadee Ridge tweren't half bad this morning.
Dimpled slalom tree run with soft-serve consistency.
Not a soul around, either (except for a few slednecks on the other side of the highway and some foreign tourists committing snowplay).

Quite the variable conditions up in the Rose Knob Peak area today.
East facing slopes were dimpled with swatches of suncups and runnels. I actually caught a tip on my second run and did a single ejection tomahawk.
North facing slopes were actually quite bulletproof around 2:30.
South facing slopes provided the straight Rockefeller action with summer solstice soft-serve goodness.
Long, but entertaining day (the approach from Incline is nothing but straight vert!).
Insane views, though. We could see across the lake and got a hazy glimpse of Lassen to boot.

While admittedly I have not eaten at every single Mexican restaurant around the Lake, I think that today I may just have had the best damn burrito I've ever had in Tahoe/Reno area to date. FWIW, I am comparing the burritos I've had in the area to those I regularly ate when I lived in San Francisco, which basically had 3 Mexican joints on every block in the Mission and charged between $5 and $10 for a veggie burrito the size of your thigh.
Frescana Mexican Bistro in Meyers (which came highly recommended by Vets) had an amazing vegan buritto (I know, a vegan burrito????). Granted, it was a bit pricey ($15), but it was the size of my forearm and loaded with amazing flavor. There were at least another 1/2 dozen tantilizing items on the menu, too, thus mandating a return visit at some point.
I'd be interested to hear what the SLT locals (Gimpy, TahoeBC, Powdork, Spats et al) recommend on the Mexican food front...
I’m not local but I’m a fan of that place, too. It’s never been busy when I’ve been in so more business would be good.
Verde at the Y in south lake is pretty solid also.
Anna's in NW Reno is the best Mexican in the entire Reno/Tahoe area. Macho Tequila in Sparks is pretty darn good too. Can't speak to their burritos though as I don't ever eat them.
Is Robertos still around SLT? I haven’t been there in years, but the pork butt king, who tahoebc knows, recommended it to me, and ‘twas good. Their salsa bar was really good.
Good to hear about the spots in Reno/Carson. went to a tamale place in Carson city a few years ago, and that was awesome.
the original verde chef, who was behind the creation of their entire menu, parted ways with them and opened up his own place which is frescana. both are great, albeit pricey. my go to mex in slt is jalisco
i don't really have a go to as the cooks at work typically hook us up with some fairly authentic tacos on a weekly basis.
I love the breakfast burrito at verde but don't really feel like i'm eating mexican when I have it.
Yesterday (6.22.19) the Meiss Lake Ski and Ride Ridge was tasty bueno. Snow conditions were super smooth on all aspects; light dimpling, but no suncups.

PS
Danke gracias for the grub recs!
I do like Frescana I eat there about once a month, it is on the pricey side. Last year they had live music on occasion outside. Couple days ago I got one of my favorites when I’m hungry after a long adventure, there Relleno Burger is huge and tasty.
For cheaper eats but pretty good I’ll stop at Brothers, just east of the Y on 50.
Brothers is my go to when in SLT. Cheap, decent and nice salsa bar.
I misfired, brothers was what I meant, not “Robertos.” It’s been too long.
Roberto's is in Mammoth
In the past, I’ve gone to salsas taqueria in mammoth.
Loving the thread drift here. While we are at it, black, pinto or refried?
I never see refried in the dry bean section at the store ;)
Did anybody hit fall creek mtn? I posted a picture two weeks ago. It’s a pretty rare treat when you can drive to the lake and the north-ish facing descents are still in.
