I had to look up the Carnaval dates and learned this is the 69th year they've done it.
Le ski aujourd'hui était des plus agréables
Attrapez-le avant que le vent du sud n'arrive

We toured it and found the common areas are pretty great (a little stuffy though) but the rooms were dated. We’ve had that experience staying at Trapps and the Mt Wash hotel too. The Frontenac seems like the kind of hotel that folks with money stay at because it’s the “fanciest” hotel in town. Tromping through in sweaty ski clothes is likely to get you some sideways looks.
There are lots of boutique and pocket hotels in the Old City that are incredibly affordable and comfortable for a family of skiers to stay at.
edit - I just checked the Front. website and it appears that the rooms shown are more updated than when we were last there. That being said, they are 2x+ more expensive than where we have stayed in the past.
Just remembered - if you are going with kids I think there are a couple (more than) decent places to ice skate in QC. If you own some you might as well throw them in the car. Didn't have shit like this in NYC:
Patinoire Place d'Youville
Parc de la Pointe-aux-Lièvres
Took a little chance, hitting Little Big Mac. They aren't super rigorous about reporting snowfall, and they only had three trails listed open.
Watched the radar over the weekend and thought they might have something new. Very few ropes anywhere (maybe 70% "open"), it was a great day on low angle pow.

Looks sweet, Harv! McCauley is going on the list. Someday.
3-4” in montreal but currently changing over. tomorrow should be fun for powder skiing up north and the weekend looks good for day drinking.
^^ nice stretch up your way, even if end is near.
we'll be approaching 50s with rain.
a window for composting...woot!
^Harv bringing the stoke....
Was trying to decide if this pic should go in the skintrack stoke thread but I don't think those western folks would get EC humor.
Took a group of 6 up the off-trail uphill route at Magic today including 2 that had never skinned. They did great (they're young so that helps!). They picked a pretty technical day to pop those cherries.

Sadly, the ski down wasn't much better....
At least it was interesting. Some adventure skinning there
Anyone ski Massif du Sud?

Could be a good weekend to make some soup...

Magic was solid good skiing, though you needed to be alert, ironically more on the flats than steeps. Sorcerer was ROTD - some years it never gets as good as today. Talisman great, Witch very good, Blackline technical (and outright dangerous if you didn’t know the trail). East side good too. Pic is sorcerer. Attachment 440359
low angle tree pow in Val David was primo today [emoji1362] Got up to 5C in the sun (41F)

Is this second or third Spring? Nice soft turns at Saddleback today and the trees are in for now.

Many Springs have been Sprung unto us in Two/Two, lost count.

Road rash alert day if you're skiing in a t-shirt.
Might be a good day to pack it in early and head to the store for soup ingredients.
Decided to torture myself by revisiting a video of The Bottlewoman skiing the bus route from a few years back.

Hint: it's not going to look like that out there today:(
meh, arm flail...
It will look like that somewhere today. Somewhere a few thousand miles away.

looked like some very solid skiing to me, but then again, i'm pretty meh mehself.
well, the compost bed finally loosened to full depth. can't say that most winters.
happy new year all and may we soon see more of that stuff we could *almost* take for granted as normal two weekends back!
The Bottlewoman knows how to turn em better than most;)
