100% agree. The OG M102 weighs more feels stiffer than the M6. I haven’t found their speed limit either. But when it’s the right kind of day for them, the M6 is so fun to ski.

Damn djongo! All on board with the new volkl lineup, eh? Love em so much you even got another pair of m102s?
Have you demoed the m6 yet? Assuming the red ones are the m6, that is.
Well yeah, I was a volkl guy for about 10-12 years thru the G4 - AC4 series.
But not for a while since.
Last years M102's worked so gotdam well before I put them in the shop (regret) that I got a 2nd pair. Hoping the factory tune will be the same.
Skied the m6 at eurobbi22 and loved it. Then got talked into proforming the M102's last year.
This summer leftovers of both models in the 191 languished as I ogled and tickled them. When they went on sale at the end of summer for 60% off, I snagged both pair.
But you know, I'll ski whatever is cheap or just available.
My mounted 102's a killing the Wrod right now. So there's that.
Oh, and they are all equally unflat on the bases. Wtf volkl?
Skied my M4s after 3 days on Katana 108s. M4s are almost noodley in comparison, but still have good stability. Hand flexing shows the opposite, with M4s being stiffer in hand. What a difference on snow.
M4s being relegated to bump ski, Katana 108 taking over daily driver spot
^^^^^
I only have a 1* base beveler and I haven't even gone full bore on that. I'm pretty close, maybe a B+/A- tune now.
It was A++ with extra credit tho.

Is this a new ski or just their Mantra?
Appears to be a new design. Curious to hear more.

Yeah info should be released today per their instagram
https://volkl.com/en-gb/v-werks-100
Available in a 170, 178, 186. 140-100-122 for dimensions.
Tip and tail rocker.
Am I the only one getting the feeling that the main design criteria was that it needs to look cool vs. actual performance?
Whoever wrote / signed off on the marketing copy for that release seriously needs to be fired. It is frankly impressive using that many words to say so little in so a confusing manner. Also funny that the skis says 179, the specs says 178.
I dunno - perhaps they decided to give DPS a run for making the most overpriced ski, though these will prob be more torsionally rigid than the technical marvels that is DPS skis....
would be fun to demo a pair though. I quite liked the discontinued mantra v werks, so if they've kinda fixed the flex pattern of that ski these could be fun. Doubt I can afford them though...
Wow, $2k!!! The 170s are sold out already on Volkl's site. The other sizes are supposedly low stock.
That ski looks so fucking bad I almost regret starting this thread.
Should be a hit with the Patek Philippe aggressive blue groomer crowd.
(It better not turn out to be an awesome ski, don't want to be sniffing through Craigslist looking for a $500 used pair three years from now after talking smack.)
They probably ski great. The price tag is ridiculous.
I don’t know, man. I’m having a hard time figuring out how splitting the core completely in half and putting big empty areas in it is going to improve performance.
And the price tag is ridiculous.
The 176 weighs 2KG so it's not light or any semblance of a tour-focused ski..
What even is the market niche for these? Goddamn FOMO bullshit.

Well I guess dentists can have a new weapon. Or maybe this is a lawyer or politician model. $1999. Suck a fat one. I figured they just had a mistake on the price before. Apparently not. That was just in my email.

It’s now showing $2500 on the US site
In 2010, volkl released The Grizzly. A $1500+ ski then. They have some history of swingin' for the fences.
This strikes me as another one of those overpriced 'skis for professionals, not professional skiers'.
I could enjoy a 2 week ski vacation for $2500. Crazy $$
The two-part wood core design that stands as a unique innovation in the industry. This cutting-edge construction ensures a consistent transparency along the entire length of the ski, setting it apart from any other ski on the market.
Makes sense.
The whole description is chatgpt.
I think the description is accurate. The only goal for the ski is that you can see through the transparent base of the ski while looking from above (ie, on the chair) at any point along the length of it.
Maybe chat GPT gave them ‘transparent’ as the answer when they asked it what was missing from the current market?
Any Blaze 114 owners comment on mount points? I'm very much used skis mounted to -6 to -8 from rec and it looks like +2 from recommended comes to -10 on the B114. Anyone speak to how they feel on snow? Do you need to really focus on unweighting the tails of these to pivot and slarve? They respond alright to a more centered stance?
I'd be interested in the answer to this as well.
I didn't realize the 192 comes in at just over 2kg if their stated weights are reality. And being a volkl it might measure close to a true 192. I've gotten along well with their 3d sidecut in the m102. Maybe the blaze could work as a big guy touring ski.
So recommended is -11.5 and it looks like you "can" go up to +2 from rec which puts you at -9.5cm. I wonder if this will feel farther forward than on paper due to the deep rocker lines? Not sure how the whole 3D radius plays into the equation though?
