I'm hoping vendul stocks a bunch of varieties of Kräuterlikör/schnapps/amaro.
In France and Western Switzerland, they have Genepi, the local funky herb infused liquor. I want to sample more of the local aqua vit.
Be still my liver....
Oh fuck. I love amaros. This trip keeps getting better.
@luke: how does this canister thing work? I could pass by the Bächli dudes in ZH and depending about what Saturday we are talking hand this thing to you. Or is it more of a refill/ exchange?
I think vendul is good with the liquors. Nice choices over at his place (this is a first hand report!)
If you're there long enough just buy a one-shot canister for about 100 euro or so. Rental at La Grave was about 10-20 euro a day (can't remember exactly). Instead of renting, I purchased one in CH, and then when the trip was done, gave it to verbier61, he prolly still has it.
Questions about tickets...
I'd like to buy a skicard for Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis, loaded for 4 days of skiing starting 19 March.
Looks straightforward:

Probably too close to the date to mail-order the card, right?
I can pick it up at a kKiosk or a Press & Books store.

Locations for each:

The Press & Books at the bahnhof in both Zurich and Chur are convenient... I was leaning towards approaching via Chur anyway (and departing via Goschenen/Bristen to Engelberg perhaps). The train change in Chur from the IC3 to the RE seems like a good opportunity to pick up the skicard.
Does this sound reasonable?
Is this the One Skicard to Rule them All? If I ski at Engelberg, this is the same card to use there?
They are souvenirs. Unless things have changed, you'll end up with a pocket full of passes that you paid 5CHF for.Quote:

Despite the verbiage above, I'd be surprised if you can purchase that ticket at the window in town.
In e-Berg you can give your card back and get the deposit back. That has indeed changes and is now more common than the souvenir collection.
Most swiss have something called "swiss pass" for the trains. You can use this to load your skiticket onto. This is new and why things have changes.
I think Press and Book can do it. I also got one from a hotel lately and could hand it back at the resort.
Wich makes me think of: @vendul - can you get as reduced passes through your lodge?
Regarding the skicard, it looks like there's a kiosk in Andermatt at the train station:
Bahnhofkiosk
Bahnhofstrasse 2
6490 Andermatt
Schweiz
Open from 8:00 to 18:00
https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...7&d=1551362732
I was able to use the same card for Andermatt as Airolo last year. Engelberg was a different card. I did not use the SkiCard system though.
I would think there would be a kiosk in the Zurich airport/trainstation as well. The only problem would be finding it in there.
Has anyone tried contacting vendul?
I'm reading this where one needs to actually be at a physical k kiosk the same day one orders:
Alternatively, you can select the option «Skicard Pick-up» during the order process and purchase your Skicard on that same day at the nearest k kiosk or Press & Books store.
See https://ski.ticketcorner.ch/faq?blLocaleCode=en#2 , How can I order a ski ticket?
Anyone else understand this differently?
I'm in touch with vendul; will update as I get information.

What does the order option «Skicard Pick-up» mean?
It means you are ordering your ski tickets without the Skicard. Once you have purchased your ski tickets, they are listed in your account under «My ski tickets». Instead of waiting for the shipment, you can now buy your Skicard at the nearest k kiosk or Press & Books store and load the ski ticket onto the Skicard.
makes it seem that one can order tickets by signing up thru the app and then pick up a Skicard at a kiosk, and load those tickets onto the card.
I just talked to vendul. He mentioned that an easier thing may be to send the skicard to the hotel :
MOUNTAIN LODGE Sedrun
Via Alpsu 211 - 7189 Sedrun
The price offered is a good deal.
Edit: evidently storms are forecast to move in within the week. Hopefully it won't get too wild.
Also, who is not on WhatsApp ?
I'm not going to nanny everyone, but at the same time, it's probably smart to have a communication mechanism for a ski complex several times the size of Whistler/BC
If you want to be added to a WhatsApp group EuroBBI.19, pm me your phone #
Alright, I just bought a 4-day ticket to the entire SkiArena beginning 19 March.
Ski card mailed to vendul's
Looks like it's accepted at many places, including Engelberg and Corviglia [emoji41]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...08a4714f4d.jpg

OK, I've got me, Norseman, LWS and doebedoe on board.
Join me, another iLuddite, in crawling up onto this mechanism
i look forward to living vicariously through all of you! be safe!
It's a little weird: One has to buy a SkiCard, which one can bind tickets to at any time after registering the card.
But one can't register the card until one has it in ones possession.
So: buy the card, have it sent to venduls hotel. I think the tickets are cheaper if one buys them early. So buy the tickets now.
Then when one gets to venduls hotel in Rueras, go online, register the card and bind the tickets to the card.
At least that's my understanding.
So how hard would it be to rent a touring setup over there? Originally I was going to only bring my touring skis, but I just ski so much better on my alpine setup that I’m not thrilled about going that route when I’ll probably be spending 80% of my time doing lift served. I can take both setups but it sounds like a pain in the ass. So how hard to just rent skis and skins?
There's several shops in Andermatt that rent touring gear.
Here's one: http://imholzsportandermatt.ch/en/ho...al-store-shop/
Dan Loutrel (http://www.andermatt-guides.ch/EN/touring.html )may have some custom Birdos to rent too. Dan r00lz.
I'll be bringing at least one piece of swag from FreeRide Systems for a lucky mag.....
Hey Buster / Mags, sorry Im very late to the party, but have been road tripping in Canada for the last 6 weeks :D
How long you folks gonna be around for and where will you be staying? Ill be back in ZH on the 15th and would love to join the schenanigans, if I may ;)
Ill be there the 15th-22nd. I’m Lodging at Venduls Hotel. Everyone is planning on being there the 21st,22nd.
Forecast is looking fucking stacked. 85cm in the next 6 days in Andermatt and looks to continue through the 16th at least.
