I hit them up a few months ago and said there were no current plans but open to it in the future. I took the gamble on the 175s @6ft,175lbs for fast and light tours and low speed tomfoolery, we will see how they work this season

Got around to mounting up my LD87s. 1 ski is 1800g with Zed12s and leashes, which is lighter than any of my other skis WITHOUT their bindings
The cd104L blems are a good price now. I picked up a pair. Perhaps the shape has gone more generic, but I am good with that. The 181 L in 17/18 went from 1610 to 1670 24/25 according to google search so not too much of an increase in weight, but the quality of materials and tuning seems to have really jumped. I took a chance. If my profile looks any different than Beowulf I will post otherwise Will give ski impressions hopefully sometime in December
Still taking 25% off with presale.

So you went 24/25 B-grade 104Ls? I'm definitely good with cosmetic imperfections. I love the 104L but have two (old ish) pairs now. I'm tempted by the regular 104 in the heavier lay-up (187 prob 2150 ish gr).
What was shipping cost?
Thx
Yes bought the cd104L. The regular looks interesting. 200g heavier than weight from 17/18 and a change in the shaping of the wood core.
Shipping is advertised as free over 400 euros, but for some reason not working on outlet skis when I ordered despite being advertised on them. I wrote and received a code.
I think the 25% preseason sale that automatically loads may be going away soon as not advertised. Just a guess on my part.
Helpful, thx.
I’d love a confirm on the new shape. Maybe the new tails are flatter than prior? But always figured a heavy ish cd104 woukd be a great resort ski.
I just need to move two pairs along to make room for these!
Skis arrived and pondering whether to send back or keep. Site advertise them at 1,670g per ski but they measured out 88g per ski heavier. They were already pushing my comfort zone for weight as with atk bindings they will be 380g heavier than my other touring skis of similar dimensions. My primary tour partner is 14 years younger and the other folks who I tour with are even younger. Not sure I want a 3/4 pound per foot handicap. Free returns it looks like, but not the route I wanted to go. On the plus side fit and finish looks high quality
Bummer to hear that. I like that their regular CD104s have gotten heavier, but the new "L" versions are now in that zone that's too light for resort duty, but too heavy (for me) for BC.
I think it makes sense in central europe where so much vertical is via trams but when skinning 5k+ feet over here, that weight on your feet matters.
I had a similar situation with SGN when they intro'd their new carbon Hurragane like 4-5 years ago and actual production model was heavier than they expected and marketed - they were cool and took em back, paid for all the shipping, etc. I'm sure Down will be stand-up too if you decide to return.
Glad I hoarded a pair of the old 104L's.
Managed to snag the last Countdown 114's in a 196 for 129€. https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...76#post7167576 Thanks a lot to Cat i January for posting this. Perfect for this broke 6'8" broke Euro-mag that was desperately looking to upgrade his worn-out 2015 Whitedot Ranger Pro's.
Super stoked for these to arrive! Going to fit them with Atomic Shift's. Now I just need to find some affordable boots that accept pins...
Ahhh man. I just finally killed my 196 cd114 after 5 or so seasons on them. Core shot the size of a stick of gum through to the core(which splintered a good bit), cracked and compressed edge. Favorite daily driver ski I’ve had. Guess I missed the last pair this year!

Massive discounts on certain lengths in the Down webshop currently. How about €299 for the 192 cm Showdown 108? Regulars, not B-Grades.
Various B-Grades also further reduced
^^^ thx for heads up WL... my daughter picked up some showdown 108s in 171 for $106 (+ $107 ship to US)! the regulars were cheaper than the outlet 2nds. I was tempted by the 192s for $265 + ship
Has anybody tried the new shape of the Countdowns?

Any chance you Down guys can do a new list of straight pull from tail to recommended mounting point? Specifically looking for the SD 108 in a 178.
Talked my boss into pulling the trigger on a pair and I want to make sure we get the mount nailed.
Have em & really like them. What specifically are you interested in?
Two things…
1, my daughter got her SD108s mounted up and got some days on em and lives em. She’s generally into super loose and tapered armadas so I was afraid these would be too traditional but she is digging em and finds em super versatile.
2, is the armada locator 104 a clone of the old cd104L? I’m a down fan but I’m “down” on the added weight on the newer version. The armadas look so similar to the old. Wish they made something between 178 and 186 tho.
I noticed the weights went up on the Countdown line, but from the description of the skis, it isn't clear why or if that's even accurate. Can anyone groundtruth or explain it?
They added beefier based and edges. I think that was based on euro feedback. With so much gondi access and rocky alps, was demand for more durability and cost of more weight.
I have the 181 cd 104 L and both skis are right near the stated weight. I did exchange them for a pair of blemsthat were 90g per ski over. For me it’s about as heavy as I want to go. Definitely excited for the thick bases and edges skiing granite in NE. I think the top sheet may be on the heavier side too.I ended up with an extra set of bindings so I picked up cheap a pair of 178 locator 104. I have three days in wild powder of various densities on them and three days exercising at resorts. I have not moved bindings over from 180 0g to the cd skis as I was still beating them on rocks and wanted to preserve the cd edges. Visually I was surprised by the camber on the locators. All three skis seem much more alike than different holding them. All have excellent looking builds. The locators moved easily through powder and were very compliant pivoting. They seemed less adept than the 0g on the icy ungroomed runs, but also different boots being used. Hoping the cd L have a stronger edge and more dampening than the locators so it becomes my all arounder and the locator is more for longer days and powder.
Interesting, thx cat, good intel.
I’m gonna jinx myself but I have probably near 100 days on the older version cd104Ls, bought used from tgapp, and they’ve held up amazingly
