With food I cook or grew in the garden, and meat in general I'm a lot more resistant to toss. These are meaningless and will likely get tossed. But a little bummed that I left them in my car that got hot several days out of a week.
I feel like maybe they have enough preservatives to last a year but not worth it...

Fresh made Spring rolls (chicken and veggie) and assuming chicken is already cooked but the roll itself remains unbaked/unfried?
Sell by date was 9/21. Have not sniffed or tested how dried out the wrappers are.

Ok despite the no-go from Thaleia I carried on with the spring rolls. Rolled in olive oil and Nuked in the oven at 400F for about 20 min, came out crispy and tasty and holding them down so far!

That's why they invented hot chiles in the southwest and why spices were so valuable in the middle ages--covering the taste of rotten meat. Throwing it out was a luxury people couldn't afford.
I agree. if those franks are still in his fridge since 2017 probably time to throw them out. And if they were still good that would worry me more.

Szechuanese hot pot stock base, brought home from China in about 2017. It says 2017.05.11 on the back, but no indication if that's a production date or a "best by" date. We ate one in about 2019 and it was great. It's sealed and is basically oil, salt, and chili. I'm thinking it's fine, what do you think?

Cleaned out and defrosted my parents chest freezer when I was home. A bunch of meat (chicken, bacon, sausage, pork, ground beef) had been portioned into unlabeled, undated ziplock bags. Of the few things in original packaging some of the dates went back as far as 2009 to 2011 including some bagels and buns. So I'm guessing a lot of the ziplock bagged meat was similar age. Freezer was so stuffed you couldn't access anything without removing a bunch on top, so it's no surprise stuff lower down was very old. Only stuff at or near the top was being taken out to eat.
I tossed what looked freezer burned (dried out) or color was off, and tossed all the old baked goods. We ate some bacon and sausage and I'd say both looked ok but tasted a little off. So I threw a bunch more of that stuff out. Lots of other old stuff in there too like frozen berries and cabbage rolls. I threw enough out that you can access almost everything that's left.
Would you eat this stuff or toss it?
