The GC down the street has maintained a nice track all winter long and has been great for after work laps.
From today in central Vermont, skied a little over two hours, nice to have some snow stacking up.

Did a new-to-me area today. They only groom three times a week or something. So what.

Made it out for a full moon ski on Friday hosted by out local Nordic group. Fresh snow covered the track and kind of stymied the skaters, but had great weather for kicking and gliding under the stars.
Ha! Our little club is non-profit and volunteer/donations driven for operations stuff. Grooming happens after a storm, or once a week before the kids jackrabbits lessons. The past couple of dumps have challenged the groomer due to depth of snow, and with only a couple passes, the top grooming is underlain with an air pocket. My wife is supported on the grooming, but my 100kg fat ass is at regular risk of punching through with the skate skis and doing the dreaded pivot face plant. Poling with my wee skate pole ‘baskets’ is almost ineffective if I don’t hit the snow compacted by the groomer tracks perfectly. Fun times if I want to forego the classic setup.
MarsB, love the moonlit runs (except for the above). Hope to get out under this week’s moon with the weather cooperating so nicely.
Just saying. You all should go ski Yosemite-badger pass-glacier point sometime. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...81a6817138.jpg

Wow, I had no idea that was a thing, is there a Nordic center there?
A couple from today, the stuff that got groomed early had a skim-coat of fresh. We are about a week out from the end of our season last year, we will be skiing in April this year!

As good as it gets back east right now, snow is stiff but not icy, forgiving and fast!

Checking in from California, a bit of a winter refresh in Truckee on Fri and Sat before the big melt commences. Sat started with snow still on the trees from a little less than a foot overnight on Donner Summit:

Plenty of first tracks in the morning (for sure the sun caused probs later in the day!):

From the previous day, different trail system. Sign says "Return to Lodge", and is nailed pretty high on the tree. Meanwhile, the trail I'm standing on to take the pic is at least 3' above sign height:

Such a great winter, but after this weekend, I'm guessing it is all melt from here. Most places will close (stop grooming) next weekend, but we're a ways off from getting bikes back on the trails!
Thanks for the pics from all around in this thread, looks like everyone had some great spring conditions!
<Edit: I see it's sideways now. I'm not capable to change that...>
Still going. All of the local nordic resorts have closed but a volunteer group (Nevada Nordic) is still grooming 2km on one of the USFS roads on Mt Rose. Plenty of snow, particularly since it's been snowing the past two days.

Wow, that’s incredible.
Bumping because -> holy crap, I can!
The awesome groomer was out on Donner summit this weekend, so I was able to get a couple more days in. Needed to start early, but trails were in fantastic shape. Didn't really have the time or strength this weekend, but couldn't pass it up. Glad I went out on Monday for this:

Sunday, the trails were configured to support higher volume of Classic skiing for a big training camp, but plenty of room left for skating on the side. Snow had quite a bit of debris in some lower areas (it's OK, it's almost a month old and still skiable!), so I played it safe and used my daughter's skis:

So stoked, had to share!
Jealous!
^ *Almost* didn't post, but wanted to show what the trails looked like this past weekend.
Any consolation, we're a still a ways off from riding bikes on them...
That's amazing! Wow.
Crazy. Finally melted out here in Utah. My daughter started a nordic program this winter and I got sucked into it with her, on the hunt for skate ski setup deals this summer.
