Yes, 8520 the first day, since some inefficient skin tracks and too many transitions for short laps.
Second day 10,020 with still short laps although very efficient skin track.
This morning, pressed for time plus some nordic touring to access the Pipeline, and laps were even shorter, so only 5470.
So by the numbers, something like 19 hours driving but 24 thousand vertical.
Qualitatively, huge thanks to go out to everyone later once I'm at a real keyboard, plus some pictures too. The skiing was really fun by itself, but meeting up so many familiar skiers plus local skiers was a major fun multiplier. The resort staff hospitality was also so wonderful.
Details to follow...
Purple fiddle just got power back for anyone still in town schralpin.

I posted a half-dozen pics of my own from this weekend in a separate thread.

Man, you guys got the locals tour because you hit all the not so obvious or known tree runs and cliff drops we clear there at White Grass. Never got to ski them last year. awesome to ski em this year on the first storm. it was unusual to see the AT gear out number the local free-heelers like 10:1 the first few days, but that was the gear for that snow for sure. Hell of a "cross-country" ski touring center eh? :)
got power on at the house saturday finally as the whole mountaintop did. actually lower elevations have it worse for power now.
snow update for you crazy road-trippers. as of last night the snow still has a powdery layer and gets more compacted on the way down. no breakable crust, but snow settling nice. with the temps we should keep it around. and joked about even getting some corn cycles in possibly with it. Stay tuned for the mid-week noreaster...could be some really good freshies on the thick base. some of the lower trails were groomed for the traditional xc folks. the entire main slope is a packed powder carpet from so many weekend skiers. county schools still closed today, so no work again! :)
Nice. Hope it sticks around.
Best early season snow event I can remember in WV.
Looks like the lake flake machine will be back on soon.

Some of you would have seen Part 1 of my TR already, but if some are like me just visit TGR on an on and off basic, sometimes via notifications, I'm putting up a link here.

I had seen Chip's vid (I already had a link on Part 2 of my TR - hoping to get it up in the next few days), but somehow missed Jonathan's pics. Yeah, I paid the price at work once I came back, but it was worth it.
Moar snow coming down, yeah. Jack Frost this weekend although I have to work.
Hope you guys get some. The valley has a cool vibe. Posted my last part of TR last night on the blog.
Part 2 from Halloween night and November 1 at White Grass.

Still snow around and with the hard cold snap, ground froze up nice, primed and ready for a dump.

After an epic start then a complete warmup and rains things are getting back to where they should be this weekend. Heading up to Davis Thursday.
From what I hear it is all bare ground in wv right now. This will help. I can't partake, but hopefully it hits hard and others can enjoy.
