I hardly think that 2mm of extra room in the toe box equates to an I'll fitting shell.

i almost never agree with rog about any thing, in fact I usually disagree just on principle but I agree with rog on this ... If you bought the rong boot shell for your foot an intuition liner will NOT fix it
Maybe a bit of clarification is in order. I've been skiing this set of Quests for 2 seasons, this being the third, without issue. The shells are fine. I've just been cranking down the buckles farther and farther as the liners have continued to pack out. Now they're like cardboard. Previous to this set of boots, I was using a set of Technica Bodacious which were a 98mm last and fit about the same in the toe box. I switched away from them simply because they were a bit too stiff for my liking. If I was unhappy with the shell fit I would be buying another set of boots. In fact, my Cochise 120s are serving well as a back up but I like to save them for touring only days.
I have a pair of Rossi Radical Pros with a shell fit on the high side of acceptable. I have very skinny calves. I replaced the packed out liners, which were low volume to begin with, with Powerwraps. I find I now tighten the buckles much looser than when the boots were new, I have no problem getting tight fit around the calf on a much looser buckle setting, and much better heel hold. I did find that the extra volume in front of the shin made my stance too upright, which I fixed with a small wedge on the bootboard and by putting back the rear spoilers, which I had taken out. (The velcro on the spoilers sticks well to the liner.) And on the looser buckle settings the boots now leak.
when I got the new power wraps in the mercury's they were so tight I didn't even have to do up the buckles, I dealt with the tight fit by using thinner foot beds which I have since been able to swap for the foot beds that were in the boot for the mold as things have packed out a little, I am on the 1st ladder of the buckles so a pretty good fit I think ... done at intuition

I've got a 266ish mm foot inside a 26 Luxury HV inside a 25.5 Lange RX130 LV, so things are obviously gonna be snug. However, I'm starting to think the liner itself is too short, since I cooked it with double toe caps and it still feels shorter than the stock liner (with thin flexy toe), and it's too short even when out of the shell. Should I try to cram in a 27 liner in an attempt to use the full length of the shell (which I might end up punching a bit) or will that just exacerbate matters by adding more material?
^ Sounds like you need a pair of the FX Race (or HD Race) model, the upper is very similar to the Luxury but the lower foam is thinner and the toe is moccasin style so the bottom of the tongue can't cause problems in a tight shell.
I happen to have a pair of both in 26 for sale, unless you need a 27.

Sounds like he's using HD race liners now with just heating the inside of the liner on heat stacks.
I'm able to get my 25 (7) size alpine powerwraps from my 25.0 titans (292 mm) into the 26.0 mercuries (294mm).
Intuition put a 7/25 power wrap into my size 24 mercury no problem and I forget how they heated them
In retro spect I would latch the top cuff buckle to the SECOND ladder to give a little extra adj, Intuition latched the boot to the last ladder which is usually a good thing for a boot with adj buckles but the mercury has no fine adj so when snow gets stuck in between the tongue and the liner you got nowhere to go if you are on the last ladder
my guess would be that the liners were heated in "stacks."
feedback from my fitter is that when wraps are backed in an oven, they expand to much to fit in the shell (he typically recommends a tight shell fit to prevent movement of foot in liner).
With a looser shell fit, maybe people are able to fit an oven-baked powerwrap into a vulcan/merc/tlt6???
I'm in a similar boat and have the same boot as you. My foot is 275mm and I'm in a 26 shell with a performance fit, when I e-mailed Intuition they told me to get a size 10 (mondo 28) power wrap plug. Based on that, you need a mondo27/us9 plug.Quote:

I haven't skied them yet, but they same liners feel really great in a 26 Vulcan. I had the 27 Vulcan and couldn't stand it at all with a 27 Pro Tour. Would have needed punching for width and extensive work on the instep. Downsizing + thinner liner seems to have worked out well, at least in terms of carpet testing.

Interesting you say that. I haven't actually bought the plug liners per Intuition's suggestion yet and I thought it was kind of a strange recommendation, I have been using the stock 26 Lange liners and before they packed out, I had no problems. I was kind of surprised that Intuition didn't just recommend a 26 power wrap based on that.
A long time reputable boot fitter friend told me that the new Pro Tongue liners are only supposed to be heated in the stackers, opposed to an oven, else they fall apart. Anyone experience this? I've had my Pro Tongues molded once, but they'll need to be done again to fit a new boot and to take up room for my skinny ankles - so I want to do them in the oven...or do I?
Had mine done in the oven the other day. Worked fine.

Not sure I agree with it entirely. At least for me power wrap works fine in an overlap boot. And I don't think it made my boots any stiffer, perhaps because the boot was low in the front, high in the back, and the original liner had a very stiff tongue. Nice because I can dial in the stiffness with the booster strap.Quote:

I suppose the next question (to myself, really) is whether the extra stiffness is worth swapping them. I like the touring ROM. In carpet testing it's pretty night and day between the Scarpa liners and Pro Wraps that I pulled from a pair of Factors.

Place basting bag in liner.
Place liner In boot.
Boil water.
Pour boiling water in basting bag and let bast (sp?) for awhile.
Remove water and bag.
Place foot in liner.
Drink beer.
Problems?
