Yup! Requires you to put your body weight into it to get them to step in, but it lines up spot on. I think I'm mounting a pair of pivots tonight, so curious to see how it goes with this jig.

well that ^^ would be the same for any tech heel fitting but i have heard of people using a jig and the pins NOT lining up with the heel fitting so I was curious

personally on a tech or frame binding I only drill 1 toe screws until I clip the boot in

I put some FKS155 bodies on new GW pedestals and had some interference. The new pedestals had some casting flash that needed cleaned up before they would work.

Ya that's what I figured. I think it'd be pretty hard for this thing to NOT line up with the heel fitting, since you "install" the binding itself into the jig and then clip in to the binding to set the boot sole length for your mount. If somebody's got a jig that's not allowing the pins to line up that kinda sounds like a shitty jig.

Does anyone know the SVST drill and tap sizes for their Heli-coils?

I'm planning on buying the heli-coils from BF but will likely have the correct drill/tap at machine shop at work (if I know the size).

I found this spec for the tap: #12-14 STI NS HSG 4FL BTM

I’m not 100% sure on accuracy, but might be able to find more info tomorrow.

The tap is larger diameter and the pitch is for the OD of the heli-coils and possibly different thread depth?

Mounting some new skis with pivots and I did a test run on a 2x4 first. I have the binding mount bang-on exactly where I wanted it, but question for those who are familiar with the pivot 15 toe... (I haven't ridden pivots since I tore my ACL 5 years ago and I can't recall what this is supposed to look like)

Is the gap at the toe piece correct?
This almost looks like it's the wrong afd, but these are alpine soles that are compatible with the "Gripwalk A" afd of the Pivot 15s and I cant find any literature suggesting this is incorrect in the technical manual or otherwise. The front of the boot doesn't seem to sit completely inside the curve of the toe piece. My assumption is this is probably typical depending on the boot you have, but want to confirm with mags. Used SearchJong and couldn't get the terminology right to return results.

You can’t change the shape of the boot or binding so that’s kinda the way it is. I think they made it that way to force the points of contact to be the two black parts. Then different shape boot toes release the same

I have a few questions. First how far away from old holes should I be going? I know 1cm is what is commonly agreed upon. What diameter do I need to drill for the helicoils? Should I be using epoxy or wood glue when installing helicoils? Finally where the hell do I source helicoils from in Canada? (specifically Ottawa if someone around here knows something I dont)

Also in refrence to my previous post. The skis came in and one of them was plugged with plastic dowels and the other was not plugged at all. Im not sure why this was the case, seems kinda suspicious, hoping there is no water damage. The ski that had nothing in it I kinda filled the holes with jbweld epoxy on impulse which I am realizing was a mistake.

It looks like the AFD is only half on the hard part of your sole. But as said above, not really much you can do about it.

I'm probably overthinking things, but what does everyone use for fiberglass for mixing with epoxy?
I was going to just shave some off an old pair of skis, but don't have those on hand. Will fiberglass cloth work? Just trying to figure how what the local hardware shop is going to have that I can use.

Since it's for an insert I'm thinking it'd be better to fill, let cure, then tap/drill. BUT maybe I could get by filling hole with FG & epoxy, inserting insert, then loosely mounting binding heel plate (to ensure insert orientation is correct)?

I've never done it with an insert or even used an insert

I've never used pink FG insulation

but back when I was the anti-christ how I did it with binding screws is cut FG mat into 1/2" strands, mix with slowset for a well wetted combo that is not too resin rich, cram in the hole and screw the screw in until it was just about to spin, leave the screw/ FG/ epoxy in the ski to cure for a couple days, if you can crank the screw down after 2 days it is no longer a spinner

I guess I worry the threads on the insert may not have the best contact/purchase if I just fill the hole and plop them in.

That said, pretty sure this pull out was a result of an overshot to flat backseat landing that tore my ACL and did a number on the rest of my knee. So I'm not really planning on doing that again...

I'll probably try the easy method and keep an eye on it whenever I swap the bindings over.

its worked multiple time for me and other people on TGR have also used it with sucess

They are 184 and I have a 335 bsl. I just lined the boots up on the recommended line. They do look far back but luckily I can move forward because it’s a demo binding. I did read a lot of people go +1 or +2 for Kastle but since it’s a demo I just tried to use the line.
