Maybe I was not clear enough. The new body style is a 4 banger, not a 6.

Big wagon, little wagon.

What's funny is the E34 is better at big cargo since the LX has a set of drawers in the back that cut down on the height of the cargo you can fit. Here's a smaller (7ft^3) deep freeze plus a medium dog crate.

looks like that one is expensive enough the seller might get more money than your mechanic, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Unitofstuff is on it! E34 is one of the greatest cars ever made.

Manual W8 Passat wagon sold for $22k.
That is bonkers. A few years back, that same car probably would've been like $5-10K. I LOVE the car, but it's going to be a mechanical/electrical (and expensive) PITA. Not like that car was mint either. Window switches and interior buttons look like ass, just like on my similar vintage A4 which they evidently both raided the same parts bin for. Many identical pieces. Haha. Cool car, but $22K? NFW.
A few years ago you couldn't find one either. It is crazy rare. Don't confuse that car with a sedan that has an automatic transmission.
My friend had the auto, and would've killed for the MT, but couldn't get one for any price (pre-BaT)
True true. Good point.

I showed this to my wife and apologized in advance if I ever buy a similar auction while drunk. She said that would be a stupid idea and I TOTALLY agreed.
A pretty childish strategy, sure, and I might have to promise to quit drinking after the purchase but that's a cheap price for a classic irrational lust.
I bought my 2004 e500 wagon on eBay, drunk, from a dealer in Florida in 2009. Still have it.

Shit, maybe I just need to get drunk and pull the trigger on a newer car, as I keep get rational paralysis and can't pull the trigger.
Not sure if anyone here knows/watches MightyCarMods, but one of them built a car called SuperGramps; its a Legacy wagon with a 6 speed, Brembo's, and a Tribeca 3.6 with a turbo on it.

Encountered/followed this guy for a ways and snapped this at the S. gate of Yellowstone.

I’ll say it again. Those giant rims look ridiculous in a wagon. No utility in those either.
IIRC the RS6 avant has 22" wheels; to fit the truly massive brakes.
But in general, I agree.
Ok boomer
If you’re truly taking advantage of the long wheelbase in the twisties that lack of sidewall would be a great benefit. Any new desirable badass ride is coming with 20” plus wheels - otherwise car would look tired and behind the times.
Utility- you’re taking your wagon off-road?
That Volvo looks great.
