Have fun shredding bumps everyone! Next Spring, I’m there!
Meanwhile, in another corner of New England... first island picnic with the Family. It begins!
Any Mags coming to Acadia and want a boat ride are always welcome to join. Just reach out.
Good slack skiing today with Otto. Many of the Great Gulf-side lines are in (Pipeline not exactly, at least for most definitions), and there's a fair bit of snowfield vertical to be had. Weekends only until May 29, but being a good American, I appreciate motorized approaches.

Looks like a good alternative!
Got up to K this afternoon. Plenty of flailing, but still fun. Actually sunny most of the time. Brief lift closure for thunder when the storm got a little too close. Cleared up again for the last couple runs.

^^ glad you got out powbmps...
those pics of the headwall look a bit ominous with the torchy week coming up
(the webcam's been down so this is first real visual update for me since i was there friday.
ahh friday. was lined up for arrival just past noon but roas work stoppage hell on NY 149E added a very costly 45 mins to my trip.
costly ones as the quad had been cleared and stopped for the day by the time i reached preston's on my first run.
i ended up hiking for a run before heading home.
easily the least satisfying ski day of this otherwise very solid season.

Dang, that still looks yummy but forecast shows rain and highs at night in the 50s, so not looking promising for one last go for me.
^^ that was friday 5:30pm
the webcam was back online yesterday evening and i didn't like what i saw.
the lower section bypassed the usual "S" that forms in favor of a complete break. if they reopen, it'll likely be for just one day with much walking.
that said: fingers crossed.
Random photos from Saturday, because it suddenly feels like summer.
I've got Killington on the calendar for Saturday, not sure if it's going to be worth it or not. Thinking maybe, as they've now said that if they turn at all this weekend, it will just be Saturday, and closing day is usually a good time, even if the skiing is interesting.Attachment 374992Attachment 374994Attachment 374995Attachment 374996Attachment 374997Attachment 374998Attachment 374999Attachment 375000

^^ wow, thanks for posting those. more snow than i'd expected.
"The "goods" are going fast! Our Superstar snow harvest is melting, and the forecast doesn't look favorable for skiing and riding. BUT, that being said, we want to spin the lift one more time this season if we can! https://bit.ly/2K2h871
"So, the tentative plan is to operate this Saturday, May 22, only (no Friday or Sunday operations) for the final day of the 2020/21 winter season at Killington. On Thursday, we'll reassess conditions and make the call for Saturday operations. If you subscribe to The Drift, you'll get the update delivered right to your email, otherwise, check back here Thursday late afternoon."
the link didn't get me to the message above but this was posted on killington zone.

^build a kicker. Middle dirt patch easily sendy. Right under the lift no less. Opportunities endless.
Anyone get up to left gully on Tuesday or Wednesday? Looking to go tomorrow (Thursday) and haven’t seen any observations since the weekend
Left Gully was still full length yesterday (Wednesday), highly recommended:

Killington the prior day (Tuesday) was sort of full length (i.e., minus a few turns at the top, minus some snow down low), but fading fast, and Saturday lift ops will be a challenge:

6 x Left Gully is a legit output, way to get after it!
^^4 on supe not to shabby either! nice work jonathan! you never fail to impress:yourock:
Killington announced it won't open this weekend. So other than earning turns ala JS, that's a wrap on the season folks!
Anyone know how the Teton Gravity Store did there this year?
If anyone gets close enough to get a good look at Otto's favorite ski terrain today/tomorrow, please post. I'm planning to ski somewhere Saturday (it being a birthday tradition), and debating the rapidly-shrinking patches here at Sunday River vs paying my $39 and hoping Airplane is still in good shape. I'm wondering how badly stuff melted out this week with the temps we've had (even if today's 20-degree variation top to bottom holds, 20 degrees colder than 79 is still pretty dang warm).
And no last day t-shirts. What are the EC hardcore skiers supposed to wear this summer to prove they were there?

i got next
Where's the board or do I just put my quarter somewhere
Given that Left Gully was pretty much full length yesterday, with the connection to the Bowl still very solid, I would expect that Airplane Gully is still in great shape, and looking to hold up well for this coming weekend.
For the NE Snowfield, you can usually get a good view from the Obs webcam (looking over from Wildcat). The picture below shows a clear view only of the SE Snowfield, but based on that the NE Snowfield was still probably close to full length yesterday.
The weather outlook is less promising, so the best strategy would be to line up at the gate at 7:59:59 (or earlier!), then make an immediate beeline for Airplane Gully from the Airforce parking lot if the wx looks reasonable in the early morning. Or else stick with the NE Snowfield, as climbing up out of the base of Airplane Gully with t-storms rolling in would be ... not so good!
