Picked up my comp from dookie. On the SV funi. Should be a good day.
Black pants, grey jacket, black helmut, grey beard, Blizzard Gunsmoke.
Sunbowl was good by 10am, North Bowl was good around 1pm. We spent the morning mostly on Granite Chief yesterday, and it was all soft pretty early unless in the shade. KT for the afternoon.
The window at The Meadows today was mos def 8-to-10:30.
Hit up the middle of the "Sisters" a little before 9am and it was already cooked.
We hit up "Keyhole Slopes" around 11 (maybe even closer to 11:30) and they were cooked, as well. Both of these still skied decent because of the pitch, but the run-out was gloppy-goo-goo.
True north facing aspects, like "Sympathy Face" and "Lower Sympathy" and "Pete's Peril Trees" were still good, but the run-outs on each were sun-cupped bouncy boing-boing.
No lift lines, which is still awesome in my book and helps make the day so much more bueno.
Yellow/Orange spring wax is the key...as in waxing the sticks every damn day.
Granite Chief early, Lakeview with a little kid crew mid morning, then we hauled them over to KT for the end of the day.
Ran into random old friends, including some great folks from Juneau I haven’t seen in years. A great day.
Thanks for the comp dookey!
I hear ya on the wax every damn day. I’m planning to ski 2-3 days over Memorial Day Weekend. Starting to think I’ll bring a different pair of skis for each day to keep the sticky factor down as much as possible.
Huge difference in the sun cup factor between yesterday and two weeks ago.
Get some sorta cleaner too. CitraSolve or something like it. Not something that will strip everything off, but something that will clean the dirt dust pollen sap poop grease off. Hot wax is best, but you can get by with a rub on. Zardoz sorta works too, as does Wend wax wipe goo.
Skied the off the saddle Roundtop yesterday. I think we came down about 12:30ish. Maybe was a little late, but not too bad. Saw two guys doing the Crescent. Sounded pretty crunchy in there. Talked to them in the lot and they said it was pretty scraped out.
I'm not skiing nearly enough...
...but here's some stoke from May 1st!

And in color too!!!
Still techno hobbled tho [emoji23]
Skied mini Hall today with my wife. The Lookers left couloir on Halls is burned out, it went on Saturday!
Skied it at 2, a bit late, but still fun.
Bushwacking was not fun. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0d5ccf7a68.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3e1abccd54.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...dfbaa8e544.jpg

Oh yeah? I miss our family routine over there. Kids scootering to the park, grabbing a beer on the way...now I'm treading water and spending more time at Treasure Island coaching little league ;)
Forecast for lassen is looking good! Bout a foot through Saturday. Anyone want to join on a trip out that way? Leave Sat ski Sun, drive back Sun. I'll be going either way, hit me up if interested
Gotta love mid-May in the Sierra...

Guess I took the snow tires off too early...
This pic from this day in the 2011 season popped up on my face fuck memories today. Despite the lineup, it was a really good powder day. Hopefully we get a repeat this week
I've been getting a ton of powder memories from spring 2011 lately. This season was good, but that season crushed this one easily for quality days. Especially post feb. I blame the jinx of starting this thread too early ;)Attachment 282677
^my favorite season by far. and may was one of the best months of the year
