That and acquiring Ichiro might be staples.
Apparently they liked that idea, too. He's scheduled to return to play next year when they play the A's in Japan.
Judge with 8 Ks yesterday in the doubleheader v. Detroit. First time that's been done since 1920.
I'm judgin'.
In other news...
1st inning tonight, Tigers P throws one high and tight to JD which knocks him down and he gets back up and launches his 20th. He has already earned his Sox stripes imo.
"Immaculate inning" for Scherzer tonight: nine pitches, nine strikes. Apparently that's the second times he's done it in his career. The others who have done it twice are Lefty Grove, Sandy Koufax, Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan. Decent company.
He's a horse. Consistent and sometimes spectacular.
And Paxton had a nice evening in Houston. Another pitcher I had on my fantasy team a year or two too early. That's why I don't play anymore.
Kimbrel is as good as the O's offense is bad. complete mismatch. damn that guy is nasty, even when he gets squeezed.
3 walks in his last 25 appearances they said on the Orioles Broadcast tonight. That's pretty good.
After dropping tw to the ChiSox, getting the O's are just what the doctor ordered. Get back on track, rebuild some momentum, but don't take a lot of credit for it...they are just a AAAA team.
I'm reading a book right now that I highly recommend to any baseball fan: The Glory of Their Times by Lawrence Ritter. First published in the '60s Ritter traveled all over the country interviewing the early stars of the game and transcribing their stories directly. Truly fascinating and I'm not sure why I haven't read it until now.
The paperback is dirt cheap on Amazon, too:

Man Xander had a day last night. Game winning HR, one of the best DPs you’ll ever see, and started the game ending DP with the tying run in scoring position.

Boras may be slipping a lil something into his cereal ... 1.5 seasons til free agency and he’s rounding into form [emoji41]
Walk off!
This yankees team is pretty fun to watch, not too late for you guys to jump on the bandwagon........
No thanks I'm too busy over here rooting for JBJ to get up to .200.
This Red Sox - Mariners game is nuts- I missed half of it skating pickup, they’re only in the 7th. 9 runs in the first, tons of lead changes / clutch hitting from both sides
JD Martinez has shown up this season. Most HRs in all of baseball since last year’s all star break iirc
Damn. Left to go watch a single-A game tonight and it was 10-5. Holy shit. Can’t wait to rewatch it.
this can't be real, can it?

Crazy, right? Recall he was designated for assignment, it felt sudden/somewhat shocking at the time, but also rooted in baseball decision making (he was hitting worse than Benintendi, jd Martinez and Moreland who are all better fielders). No teams picked him up. I wonder if management knew anything, if rumors were swirling, etc.
Still hanging out with old friends, or made some new friends? Either way, looks like he might be making some even newer friends.
This could turn out to be a very sad ending of squandered talent. I don't think he ever reached his potential. Still a damn good career though I thought he could be an all-timer based on his early years.
