what is a non winter specific snow tire?
Picked these up for my Outback last month to replace the garbage OEM tires. So far so good but only light snow so far, no heavy snow or icy conditions. Think it's a good compromise as I ran performance (middle euro ) winter tires on my Audi before this , and most tests show these having similar levels of snow performance . We shall see
There’s a new genre of tires, Michelin Cross Climate, Pirelli Scorpion Weather Active, etc that are all season tires with three peak snow designation. They have a “softer” rubber but not as soft as snow tires, and very aggressive geometry. These features allow them to be good in snow yet run year around.
I have both and I’ve been very happy with them. Not the same as my Nokkian Hakka’s with studs but close.

I have the Cross Climates on my GC and studded Hakkas on my wife's Q5. I prefer the CC's 98% of the time.
If the roads are really bad, we take the Audi. The only problem, I feel invincible and tend to drive more aggressively.

There is an entire thread about ALL WEATHER TIRES.
I’m trying to recall the website that is helpful to find various car makes and models with the same wheel size, hole pattern, and offset. For instance, it helped me figure out that some model years of Prius would work in my matrix.
Any complaints about nordman North Nine model tires?

Have had a few months now of challenging winter driving on Hercules Avalanche TT LTs on my RAM1500. I expect any new winter tires would do the job, but these were very well priced (CAN$1600, installed) and they’ve been flawless so far.
Thanks. That’s what i was looking at earlier when I posted my question. I don’t think I explored the site enough.
