First look at the 2016 Miata at 9:00 EST.

New generation looks good from what they've shown. Turned into a fucking Duran Duran production without a single rotation around the car.
^^^
We had a 94 M Edition Miata that was an absolute blast to thrash around the road. These newer ones, while I'm sure are better, look so big and heavy compared to those early ones.
I scanned through that video, on mute, so I don't know who that band was but I also noticed that while they said they were in Monterrey, they unveiled a right hand drive model. That and they really only showedd it from the sides, no direct shots of the nose or tail. Why is that?
EdIT: That was Duran Duran? Thought it might be seeing that guy's DD tattoo. Oh well, show us the damn car.
It's just poor production. Full shots are trickling in around the web. One of the bigger changes from last generation to this is supposed to be a 220ish pound diet. That would put the car's weight somewhere between the first and second generations; around 2,250 pounds.
try to watch this without smiling

I had a materials science instructor who was into building and racing cars. Somebody brought up 0-60 times one day and or instructor went off on a tangent about rs200s and the one time he saw one racing.
There was a good lancia status video recently, I'll have to go look for it...
I don't get group B. Maybe instead of just going back to the other jerk off threads, I should just leave the interwebs entirely. Just so you know, I'm not really prepared for that big of a commitment.
Alternatively, maybe you can regale us with tales of watching Röhrl and Kankkunen in Monte Carlo. Cause clearly you get it.

or you can go back to jerking off over overweight porsches.
Funnest car I ever got to drive was my pals Caterham Super 7. Could reach down and put my full palm on the street from my seat.

May not have have the pizzazz of many of the cars put up here, especially those out of Italy; but I think its one of the few cars that an American car company has put out in the past 10 years that have real charisma and the gxp is plenty fun; I know; I own one.

^ Agreed, was following one the other day thought pretty much the same thing. Very pretty cars.
Probably belongs in the MGB thread in answer to the "get a Miata" suggestions.
^^
Have a buddy with the Saturn variant, the Sky Redline. That car is great fun to drive, indeed. If I had either one though, I'd be dang tempted to attempt the LS engine swap.
I'm not in the market for a roadster.
No doubt the Mazda and Honda are marginally less hairdresserish.
I've only driven my sister's Mk1 Miata(MX5) Didn't really like it at the time. But I didn't like MGBs either. The Mk1 MR2 she had prior to the MX5 was way more fun to drive.

Drive a Solstice GXP or Sky Redline and your impressions will be vastly improved. I love both the Miata and the S2000, but that doesn't take away from the fact that both the Pontiac and Saturn roadsters are a blast to drive, and pretty good looking to boot.
