SSD- Presidio? Looks like a great course! :)
Yep, Presidio. It is a pretty great course, tough but not at all gimmicky. And it's in incredible shape right now, as they're planning to really cash in during U. S. Open week- good for them to step their game up and deliver a good experience for the out-of-towners (who will allegedly be paying $160 for the privilege) instead of just half-assing it.
In all honesty, though, I'd still play there even if it sucked. It's just too convenient for me.
Gross. Decided to post it anyway (for the redhead fans in the padded room):

^ and what's the penalty, anyway- a stroke? Sounds like the smart move would have been to tell him and take the penalty.
Steven S. Fucking Dallas, as I live and breathe. Have you been hanging out here with the country club set all along?
We can't all be yachtsmen.
Nice, Fritz.
That redhead is gross but you still get points for getting the picture. Isn't your fault she's fugly.
Cart girls. If you aren't super hot, be super sweet. She looks sweet. Played 9 at my favorite course with the wife. Robert Trent Jones design circa 1933. Would you believe a golf course that is cash only? No credit/debit cards accepted. Would you believe $33 for 9 for two with a cart? $40 for 18, for two? The beer cart girl was a cutie but no pictures because 1) no camera and 2) I'm with my wife, you think I'm crazy!!?
BTW, rule about telling what the score is. I don't think that's against the rules.
Here's a doozie that actually happened. Match play. Player A is down 1 to player B with two to play. Both opponents on the green in regulation. Player B lays his bag greenside. Player A has a 20 footer. Player A slams his putt 60 feet past the hole and hits Player B's bag. Result? All even with one to play. Player A wins hole by hitting player B's bag.
OK. Here's another golf ethics question. Played in my league on Wed. Shotgun start. We start on 17 going out and 18 in is an adjacent par 5 going in. There is a driver leaning on the ball washer. No one around. Who leaves a driver in the tee? It's a Power System 3000 10.5, 360cc. I currently play a Taylor Made Mid Size from the last century. Due to a schedule foul up we sit on the tee for 30 minutes. No on shows to claim the club, so I take the driver and use it. SMOKIN!! Work it with a fade, work it with a draw, hit it low into a 30 mph wind, hit it high down wind. Leave a note in the club house that says I found a black driver and my phone number. Did I do the right thing? Keep it?
Personally, I never play with or keep another person's club. Couple months ago I found a mint Cleveland wedge on the first hole and held onto it for the entire round. Who leaves a club on the first hole and just says fuck it? Nobody rode back and asked for it so I turned it in to the pro shop. I have to admit I even thought of keeping it but settled that it would come back to bite me in the ass if I did.
Fast-forward to two weeks ago and Skiballs sends me three Vokey wedges that I didn't ask for along with a driver and 3-hybrid.
Karma exists.
To answer your question bluntly: Turn it in and start looking for a good deal on the same club. Maybe you'll get a surprise and find a killer deal. If it's common to keep the club and give the pro shop your number, do that and call it good.
It depends on how much faith you have in the golf course employees. If you think the club has a better chance of getting back to its owner by leaving a sign and taking it home, do that.
I wouldn't use it, though, until it enough time goes by to feel sure it won't be claimed.
Edit: looks like that club can be had new for under twenty bucks.
i wouldn't worry about the pro shop guys. it's their problem if they keep it. i did my part.
i have left my 60 degree wedge behind at a green more than once and even though it's a cheap piece of shit i bought from sports authority or something, it's always been brought back to me.
Odd that nobody wants to steal your house-brand POS lob wedge. For my part, I've seen nice clubs I turned in turn up on Craigslist the next day.
I guess it's on sale now. Was $24.95. Now $18.71. I try to be a straight arrow but I really feel in my heart that by leaving a note on a $20 club I did my part. Maybe it's karma coming back for whoever didn't turn in my Cleveland BeNi 797 56* Sand Wedge that took two years of practice with another wedge to replace. I'm keeping it.
yeah, i understand that. perhaps i should have said "i don't worry about the pro shop guys" rather than "i wouldn't." i wasn't trying to tell you what to do, just saying that i don't worry about them. you make a better effort. i make a minimal effort and am done with it. but thanks for reminding me of my house-brand POS lob wedge.
Shot 77 at Oakland Metro this evening with a lost ball and a lateral penalty. Not bad. Had to rush through the back nine because it was late and it probably cost me 3 shots Driver and putter really coming around.
my swing is any how at the minute, im using all excuses to stay away from the course and practice ground, however i am going to practice this afternoon,
I do believe in some sort of cosmic, or is it comic, resonance coming into motion at times on the golf course. Did you ever notice how some times if you hit into the woods early in a round and it bounces back into the fairway the good breaks continue throughout that round? Conversely, if you find yourself behind a tree/busy early that your ball will find places to hide all day. I've turned in many clubs in my career. This is a first with me. I left a note.
"You can talk to a fade but a hook won't listen" - Lee Travino
^^^^You were probably going for "cosmic resonance," but "comic resonance" is applicable too, at least with my game. You might have just coined a phrase.
