conors striking leaps and bounds superior to kabib
No doubt. And so was the striking ability of just about everyone he has fought in the UFC. It didn't matter. Conor can't throw his awesome left if that arm is pinned under his body. As I said, I wouldn't read too much into Kabob's jabbing in that fight; his preferred strike technique is side control ground n' pound. He's going to take McGregor down and punch him in the ear a hundred times until McGregor gives up his neck. Diaz already proved Conor would rather give up his neck than eat a few punches. Diaz is a good BJJ fighter but Kabob's speed as a grappler is on another level. Like, two or three levels above Diaz. Seriously, do you believe McGregor has a prayer in hell if the fight goes to the ground?
The one thing of note I saw was that Iaquinta wriggled out of some half-hearted takedown attempts in rounds 3 and 4. That is the only thing I saw that was encouraging to McGregor's coaches.
Riiiight. We all saw that elevated striking game in what? That one upper cut he managed to touch Floyd with? Really? You are basing this on what else? The 200 misses he exhausted himself with? Yeah, his striking is "elevated" if, by elevated, you meant he really beat the shit out the spot in the air where Mayweather's head used to be.
The fight with Kabob was right there for the taking. Conor didn't want it. He didn't call Kabob out. He showed up with a gang, threw shit instead of fists and then ran off like a common soccer hoodlum. Frankly, they looked like a bunch of pussies running away and then diving into a car with about three or four too few seats. Tough guys sitting on each others laps as they flee the police. What a great look. I'm sure it will sell lots of Mac Life merchandise.
Face it, McGregor has been reduced to playing the role of gangsta badass instead of actually showing up in the octagon and being a badass. Whatever. If it pays better than actually remaining a UFC champ, then who can blame him. And, no, fighting an old dude who has never fought in MMA does not restore his status. That's a fucking joke. Who is next, CM Punk? Maybe Conor is going to wait until Diaz is too old be a real threat.
I don't. I thought Diaz almost knocked his ass out at the end of the third but McGregor got saved by the bell. It was close but, not considering points or rounds, I thought McGregor was clearly the fresher of the two at the end of the bout and, if there had been a sixth round, Diaz probably would have got knocked out. I like Diaz a lot more but that is what I saw. Whether by points or by the measure of physical damage, McGregor won.
Riiiiight. So, exactly how many months have you been watching MMA? You didn't seem to know that Kabob thrashed RDA.
And now yer talking bullshit. Diaz bros don't get knocked out!

Yeah. Except that time that Nate got his ass beat by a nobody who now fights in Bellator. Good ol' Nate, eight minutes into the fight and he's already bleeding into his eyes so badly he can't see a head kick coming from a mile away. As I already said, Nate's lumpy eyebrows are perhaps his biggest liability. Kabob doesn't have that problem. Nobody even makes him bleed and you want to compare him to a guy who has been hit in the head so many times that his eyebrows look like two old wads of chewing gum.
i dont disagree
ya 1 time a head kick and he didnt even go out / i knew that and dont care
i dont watch kabob fight
he bores
How long have you been watching MMA? Josh Thompson is hardly a nobody, he was the Strikeforce Lightweight Champion. You know, Strikeforce, where Nick Diaz was Champion, where Cormier came to the UFC from, also Jacare Souza, Werdum, Overeem, Rhonda Rousey, Meisha Tate, etc..
Eddie Alvarez was Bellator, and after losing his championship there, came to the UFC. He made good money there, and that money convinced Ben Henderson to go there, and Rory MacDonald too.
Nate Diaz is a good lightweight, but he's never won more than five fights in a row, he has been great sporadically, but is only 14-9 in the UFC. The Diaz brothers are just very popular with the gangster wannabes, more because of their attitude than the greatness of their game.
No doubt there's some good fighters in Bellator. But where is their competition? You know what I'm saying? The roster is just not deep enough. Is there even the concept of a gatekeeper in Bellator or does every new guy who walks in off the street start ranked at #10 in their weight class? Strikeforce was the same way, dude. How many guys on that roster made the cut and came to the UFC? 20%?
Thomson was unranked in the UFC when he beat Diaz; that's what I meant by a "nobody". Then he lost three in a row against top level competition, left UFC and went to the B-league. So...um...yeah...He's a nobody. By comparison, the UFC lightweight class is so deep that just getting ranked is an accomplishment. Look at Paul Felder. The UFC has been grooming this guy for three years. He's 7 - 3 riding a 5 - 1 streak (doctor's stoppage), 4 performance bonuses, a solid to sometimes quite exciting fighter, tough as nails, throws a lot of strikes and very popular with the fans. Yet, he's still got to fight guys as tough as Al Iaquinta just to crack the top 15 at lightweight. His cancelled fight with Al at 223 was his first shot at getting ranked in three fucking years. Where would he be in Bellator by now? Probably top 5? I hear what you are saying but, imho, its a small pond that has a few big fish and a lot of minnows. Capiche?
Lots of great fighters have done tons of coke. Kind of goes hand in hand I think. I kinda like it, it adds to the psycho persona and the drama. I mean, could you imagine a hey day Iron Mike without coke?? Would have been so much more boring. So what I say. line em up!
yeah Im with Diamond Joe on this one...I like the fucking chaos, I like McGregor & the Diaz brothers. Mike Tyson was/is my favorite fighter of all time for sure, Marvin Hagler coming in at a close 2nd.
DD you going to the fights? Let me know, I got crew in NJ 😁

kevin lee is tight
barboza a good fighter i guess but seems to lack power and the killer instinct
Usually we are on the same page as far as fighters DD but I can't stand Kevin Lee, I hope he gets choked out again. Not the most exciting card though, I might just watch the Bronner fight on Saturday night...plus Tank Davis is on the undercard.
Khabib/McGregor fight subosidly already in negotiations
Great fight card so far.
Merab got merobbed. That call from the ref was horseshit. If you don’t think a fighter is unable to continue, you stop the fight. You don’t go back after the fight ends and change your mind.

Really surprised to see Barboza get dominated this badly
Same as Kabib fight...but different.
Was surprised he didn't capitalize fully/completely on the wobbly chicken Lee after the spinning leg kick...looked like Lee would have been done for had one or two more finishing blows landed.
But I guess after the damage BBSa sustained, not much left in the tank or computer at that point.
Damn though, BBSa...tough as nails and impressive recovery by Lee.
Enjoyed the fight.
good shit last night I was wrong for sure, not boring at all...but that fucking Broner/Vargas bullshit was boring as hell.
Lee looked good but he's not getting a shot at Khablob anytime soon, loved that chicken dance in the 3rd too lol
I think the correct call was made in the Simon fight, in my opinion you can't be the winner of a fight if you are on your back & unconscious when the final bell rings. Plus the rules state that you can not be saved by the bell in any round...
