I'm gonna take up golf.
Could be worse guys, we got three feet in town and two weeks later we are down to six inches of it 🙄
The new snow was very good, however the base, which had been pretty warm the past few days, was hardened and resisted edging. That said, w00t w00t for the freshies.
That was fun. Fuck, I'm out of shape though. Hope the snow keeps up!
Yeah, I've been thinking about all the places I like to ski that I haven't even tried yet. I did a couple runs down through Windows today, and there were some good turns, but you have to keep looking way down slope to avoid getting stuck behind dead fall. i wonder how much of it was there last year, but was buried.
Quite wintery at the Bowl today.
My fiancée gave me one hell of a stink eye as I headed out this morning.

Well that was about as good as it gets...until Lavelle had an issue and started loading every other chair, which caused the biggest lines I've ever seen there (again though, Snowbowl JONG here, only got my first pass in 98/99). Then I heard the story about the car on fire...the two funniest things were "I could feel the heat as I drove by" and "He wasn't even trying to get his gear out!"

Victory went to the early-risers and strong-thighed shredders today. Everything skied well, and it was nice venturing deeper into the woods with some deep snow to boost the confidence. West bowl in particular skied like a gem from top to bottom.

And yeah, once Lavelle started loading every other chair, I knew it was time to book it elsewhere. Glad that I called it before 1, as the number of afternoon-delight jongs driving up was insane.
Weekend forecast is shaping up to be nice. Good time to rest and reload.
The parking robot had them stacked up to the top of the road once I got up that far. So I smiled and after he walked past I drove down to the lot and found an empty space on the first lap around the lot. After shuffling my way through a historically long line at LaVelle, I skied a very deep run through Windows, skied a tasty Griz Glade, and a medicore Griz Chute. By then, the line at Griz was so long that I called it, figuring it would a be a shit show on the way down the road (I work this afternoon).
It was a good call as I ended up behind a guy who stopped every time he saw uphill traffic, then came to a stop just below Permafrost, where someone had gone seriously off the road into the bank, and where an ambulance was putting it's chains on in the middle of the road. A couple State troopers came by, found it uninteresting and continued up the road, probably to help the other car that drove into the ditch on the way up.
The cars were parked nearly to Bartender's Corner, with a very long line of ladies heading for their For Women Only lessons. I'm sure I missed out on the best of the cluster fuck, especially if it starts snowing again, and the ladies start coming down the hill.
The road carnage has been pretty impressive this week. There was a Tundra deep in Bartender's Corner yesterday, facing the road. I bet that was a pretty exciting spin-out. Today, besides the car on fire, there was that car in the ditch just above the mailboxes on the wrong side of the road (I cannot even fathom how that is possible), and I noticed that just above that, someone had spent almost 1/4 mile with half their wheels in the ditch before they got out. Bunch of fuckin' amateurs. Good thing these folks weren't around pre-road widening.
Never seen the road so fucked. Glad I got there early.
Oh and WOOT WOOT.
It was impressive how many poor drivers could not handle the road today. The highlight of the drive down was the driver who plowed his truck into the ditch and tried to gun it out there, only to plow a 100yd forward and wedge the truck even deeper into the bank. It was some scrawny-ass high school kid that was trying to dig himself out with a puny Avvy shovel.
The firetrucks were just putting their chains on at the bottom when I passed.
I'm hoping the parking situation today will drive a lot of people elsewhere tomorrow.
Am I high (yes), or did the parking robots used to man the outer-row truck parking with a specifically sized stick forcing people to park close together, as measured by the stick? I actually remember being forced to back out and try again, getting closer to the next car. They should do that again, because the lot could fit about 25% more cars if people didn't leave 7 feet between each one.
Was the car fire today?!
Emergency services were for the head on between 2 SUV's. Didn't look too fast, but it didn't look fun.
Jesus Christ, it was like a holiday weekend at a resort near a city. Jerries going either too fast or too slow. Glad I came and went early. Sucks about the lift. Was running fine when I did a lap down West Ridge. Knee deep!
Hmmmm, so jong show Saturday and potential Lavelle problems? Or, Disco and adding another area notch to my belt for 20/21?
Yeah the car fire was today. Where was the head-on? That sucks. I was coming down and a TON of dipshits heading up paid absolutely no mind to the fact that people were going both directions and were driving in the middle of the fucking road.
Drove past what I think was the head-on collision. Didn’t look as bad as it could’ve been.

Are they both in the ditch? Jesus.
Yup. IDK if they were in the ditch, as there might not have been much of one there, but the uphill traveling car physically could not have been anymore to the right. It was above the fire. But yeah, pretty pro move. That and the minivan doing 20 on Grant creak this morning. They finally pulled over and let me and the 5 or 6 others behind me by. It's almost just as dangerous for someone to go that slow. Without inertia, you can slide off the damn hill. Let alone anyone who has to use a passing zone to get around them. Or just the general inthewayness. It's like a rock in a rapid.
I also detest people who don't try to make 65 on the on ramp to i90. Gonna get an 18 wheeler up the ass.
