I think it's a bike fit/geo issue for me, but rode the tire a couple of times now and no Bueno. Serious trust issues.

everything was good, until it wasn't.
i have about 1100mi on specialized ground controls, and boy seemingly all of a sudden they were loose and down i went.
mid season, new tires .. but what kinda miles you queens getting outta tires?
Kinda depends on the tire. Maxxis stuff.... DHR2 MaxTerras on the rear I only get 200-300mi usually before I feel them falling off pretty hard. MaxxGrip DHFs on the front I usually get around 500mi. So far my MaxxTerra Assegai front is still going strong at 480mi. With all the failure point is usually ripping knobs off.
So far Vittorias are lasting longer for me., My first Martello rear went over 300mi plus an unknown number of miles by the previous owner before I put a giant gaping hole in it, but the center tread was getting pretty worn too. My Mazza front hasn't shown significant wear yet.
I can't imagine getting 1100mi out of tires but I'm a no talent ass clown and ride like a jackass.
XC tires are not soft compounds and barely any tread. They last a while.
I get 1100 km out of Maxxis Assegai/ Minion DHR2 combo and the knobs start chunking

Best specialized and maxis tires for xc race in clay mud? She is pro with both, but specialized are dramatically less in cost for a set that may never get used.
How the f do you guys.... wait... why the f do you guys keep track of the number of kilometers you get or of a tire to that degree of accuracy? But seriously, you must have a lot of extra brain energy to pay attention to the ninety of km you get out of a tire.
Some tires do last a super short time, though, like maxxgrip maxxis. But that's just obvious without km counting.

I don't but it's probably as simple as taking a picture of new tire or title ride, new rubber for my "whip" on Strava or whatever for a reminder and some simple math.
E-bike has an odometer otherwise good luck

the rear is wearing notably, but the front knobs are starting to rip.
i can appreciate that ive slowed on the DH and take some things more tentatively as a result of how loose it's gotten. esp since i washed out the other day.
i'm sure i just ride like sleeve of wizard. def more of a weak xc rider and not a gnar dh bro.
alas, even i can suffer the mechanical disadvantage.

As others said, a combination of Strava mileage and ebike odometer (where it applies). I do like to use the Strava component feature for things with service intervals, like chain/cassette/chainring, or fork/shock.
The Super Soft Kryptotal Re on the ebike just finally started to have the tops (not rear) of the knobs tear off, at roughly 400 miles. It's probably got another 100 miles on it, or a few huge days in sandy/rocky terrain. Pretty damn good for a "super soft" compound - a DHR even in MT usually starts looking ratty at around 200 miles for me.
See above ? For race day x country mud tire? I know the renegade and icon fill into a slick instantly. Any ideas for something that will shed some of that sticky mud, or is it just deal with it.
I do think the Krptotals roll faster than Ass/DHRII combo. I'm still learning to commit to them in the turns. I spent 3-4 years only riding Ass/DHRII so their is still an adjustment period. I think the rubber/casing on these are more damp so I can run a higher pressure and not feel like the tires want to bounce around too bad.
Can’t speak to Spec tires,but new Maxxis Severe looks good.

Put the Hillbilly on after time on the EC beach, caught a day at Lynn Woods before heading to EU. Granite at LW grips great and it was dry so the T9 rubber wasn't 100% necessary.
First riding in EU was in Girona (thanks to Trek Store Girona for stocking an 11spd XT - no thanks to United for whatever they did to necessitate it.) Girona trails are mostly social trails - loose pebbly shale embedded in hard clay, rutted to varying degrees. Really liked the tire combo there, esp having some extra rear tire braking on loose steep euro turns. I always find EU trails run one degree of difficulty higher than US ratings.

Trails were mostly less steep than girona but more rocky - either broken or unbroken slate almost entirely, a few patches of packed dirt on flatter sections - mostly old farming / walking routes.

Super fun, generally easy climbing, mostly short rides, start early, pedal from the house and get home before it gets hot.
Did not find there to be any front / rear imbalance with the butcher t9 front / hillbilly t9 rear. made it through 2.5 weeks / 17k feet (it wasn't a "riding trip" per se but rather a family vacation where I brought the bike), without cutting a tire this year (last year I wasn't so lucky) but had issues maintaining tire pressure on both tires. Next year gonna figure out how to get a floor pump along with me. The hillbilly rear definitely took a beating / wore fast on the shale. Will maybe update later today with a photo when I unpack.
Confirmed: Conti Kryptotals are absolutely incredible. Raced them hard this weekend at BME with every kind of condition from blown out to peanut butter to literally racing down tracks with rivers flowing in them. Just fucking insane tires. The enduro casings are plenty tough.

I have DH casing Krypt Rear and Argotal that I will probably sell once I get some backup Enduro casings delivered. Worth the wait getting them shipped from Germany. Even in Euros and with $50USD shipping it was cheaper than going down the street and buying Maxxis that will blow up or wear out in a week.
