Well I back down about 2 miles of I-70 shoulder and use the emergency turn around and I'm back in Frisco lickety-split and I just got a text message from CDOT letting me know that Vail Pass is closed westbound I can't have those two hours back and only cost me a few hundred dollars in pay.
, very timely CDO T screw you
I like having 3 part time jobs not 3 full-time jobs
Got on EB around 3:00 at Silverthorne, snowing pretty good. About a half mile before the tunnel, not one but 2 jack-knifed semis and probably 10 cars and trucks in various stages of fucked up. Total blockage and they're not letting anybody else down. So the traffic is stopped on the other side of the tunnel while they tend to the carnage. in the queue some guy's managed to rear-end two cars, because he couldn't stop fast enough. Going up hill.
Whoever is sending out those EC alerts must have been a fill in. Usually they are pretty good. It would be good to get alerts for Summit stuff too, as long as I can isolate it to I70 stuff.
Do they have an alert setup for Summit Co where you can isolate areas of interest? Link?
I sense a lot of hate this morning in Idaho Springs.
Every morning when we are about to depart for skiing, we check out Waze. If it looks bad then we go the back way up 24 and ski Breck.
Alternatively, we have learned some side roads that parallel I-70 and they are pretty effective for getting around traffic. A little fore thought also helps.
Long weekends create busy Friday evenings and Mondays. Better off going up Saturday mornings on those weekends.
We also try to ski Fridays and Sundays and skip Saturdays (not all - just on perceived busier days).
Either leave really early or arrive later like around 10 ish - 7-9 is the worst window heading west and 4-6 heading east on Sunday which is when we go out to dinner or take the back way unless Waze reports that it is ok.
We have been able to manage the traffic pattern pretty well and it has not been as problematic for us as many claim.
From now (April) into June the traffic will not be that bad.
The stoppage east and west bound this morning near fall creek was sweet [emoji58]
Sure made the skiing nice and uncrowded today!
only 10 more days or so and then it will be great for the next 2 months
Already is great again! Cheers to the second season!!
Anybody see this posted today in the Post? Hyperloop has the same ring as Monorail (insert Simpsons voice) Denver to Vail in 8.4 minutes. Imagine if...

3 Colorado routes among 11 U.S. finalists for Hyperloop transportation network

And only $325 for a ticket.
One way.
Not too expensive if you buy the Epic Hyper Pass.
When the left lane lounger in front of you gets cock blocked by an even slower driver, and then gets pissy.
Lulz for dayz
Anyone in Denver Metro: has traffic noticeably gotten EVEN worse this year? It's like rush hour all day now [emoji31]
With 100K new residents/year, somethings gotta give. Many(most?) came for the pot in my guesstimation with my wide brush stroke. So there is more of them, and they are stoned.
The real suck is coming with the i70 overhaul through north Denver
I've heard the majority isn't MJ related. Tech is huge for sure. Great economy and lifestyle as well.
Wondering what's the tipping point, when companies and people don't move here or leave because the infrastructure is completely overwhelmed (actually, already is).
Also, what fucktard engineer designed the new Hwy 6/I25 south on-ramp? That whole interchange near Federal was just rebuilt but when you're coming EB on 6 and want to head south on I25, the on-ramp goes from 3 lanes to 1 to merge with I25. It is always a backed up parking lot, no matter what time of day. Why the fuck didn't they build it with at least two lanes merging into I25 while it was being redone? Morons!!
It's mostly great economy and lifestyle period. But that includes tech, mj, skiing and hiking, etc.
I'll stick with my stance, but not with any real determination.
And that interchange is something for sure. And they still didn't really do anything about that suicide dash onramp just east of Federal. They should have improved or removed it all together. I still love 6 as it serves me well. It's all in the timing though. Going straight and stopping at Santiago's is always a good move.
