You on Cuttyhunk or the Forbes property?
Ski resorts running all winter seems more tenuous now than four weeks ago. If any place stays open it will be WV
Anyone ever tried a "meade" made with maple syrup? Better yet straight moonshine? Gotta believe yes.

There's a place near me in NY that makes mead out of maple syrup; https://vinoshipper.com/shop/helderb...ad_8,003?list=
It's pretty good.
Cool. Obviously a bit different than honey which is used directly..I wonder if they distill it down to say a grade a or whatever, or of they go with less sugaring?

Love the use of "cloying" in that write up. Total beer judge word. Wouldn't doubt it if they pulled it from an early competition they entered..you always get the judges.notes

If you want to search for maple mead use the term acerglyn.
Thanks. Figured someone turned that "sugar" into booze. Seemed obvious but I never considered. Consider me learned as it never came up in beer judge testing that I recall.

My FIL makes maple shine....it barely tastes like maple, but will keep you plenty warm on a cold January day.

VTeton,if you are referring to striped bass, the large are always female, unless you consider 30inch fish as being large
I have 6 gallons of resting fermented maple “Meade.” Basically, I took the sap boiled it down by about 1/2 added granulated maple sugar, champagne yeast, and in one 2.5 gallon batch golden raisers. All the batches are around 11-14%. One .5 gallon jug that was 12% I did freeze distilling, and got a ball jar full of sweet boozy maple concentrate.

This is pretty good stuff too. :)

109 news cases in VT today. Better stock up on that maple rum!

I am sure we could work a maggot deal.

Waitsfield Allen lumber closed due to covid until further notice.
Guess I'll have to take some time off.
In for the rum group buy.
Vermont just fucked itself. Morning news cataloging spreader events: Halloween party in Milton, bowling league in Colchester, etc. WTF people? We had the virus mostly back in the genie bottle and now....No discipline.
kinda hard to blame out of staters for that.....
Where are all the Vermonters crying about the flatlanders screwing up the state now?? Everyone plays their part

Yep. This is fucked. We had an outbreak at the high school I teach at and we'll likely be remote for awhile. Now all VT teachers will have access to free testing.
We all go complacent when we had 0-10 cases a day all summer and here we are. Can't put this all on tourists either.
I'd hate to be in charge of a ski resort and trying to figure out how to open with this blowing up all over the place. Between local outbreaks and the red travel map I don't see how mountains can manage this.
Sorry to hear about your school, hearing the same from a neighbor up here at their two boy's elementary/middle school. Really tough to keep a 4th and 6th grader quarantined.
I don't think the resorts are going to have to manage it, betting Scott is going to take care of the decision making for them.
The only realistic option should be stay closed until January 1st and reassess then.

I think the email I got from the outside sales guy Tuesday and the Wednesday one from the Allen's saying it was closed due to a positive coved case is sufficient.
All of Allen lumber is closing and reopening Tuesas RK Miles, who bought them out.
Hopefully the local can open then, otherwise I can get what I need from Montpellier or Barre.
that would save the ski areas a shit ton of fucking money that’s normally wasted on early-season snowmaking....
