Purchased a 1x12 XT setup to upgrade my wife's MTB. Will use her existing 10-speed stuff to upgrade my cross bike.
WIN-WIN :)
And bonus, all the 8100-level XT stuff I ordered was in-stock and on the way!!

as my ski bro sez on occasion " how do you ever walk with all them horseshoes up yer ass ? "
It looks a lot like my new-this-year Norco Bigfoot, I think it was a 2016, its small so even the right size, i paid for it with govy pandemic relief $$$, it looks brand new cuz mom NEVER rode it ever, the downspec would be the Deore 2x9 gear train, the smaller 26" x 4.5" tires are not studdable , stuff that could be upgraded but is not necessary cuz its still a plenty good FAT bike
Bought some rotors, brand new $35 each ( 180 and 203) seemed like a good deal to add to the parts bin

I am already thinking this might have been a bad idea.
I’ve read the instructions, watched the videos bought some beer- guess it’s time to apply some stickers.
Anyone have any tips on making it easier?
apex hydro brifters/calipers, ratio 12sp conversion kit, gx rear der, 10-52 cassette, pnw pine dropper, and a 21 salsa fargo. hope rx4s and rotors on the way next.
i have done a couple of bikes with the 25$ roll of 3M stuff from lordco, the Yeti turned out pretty good and thats a pretty curvy frame
so get some spray bottles you want a bottle with a soapy solution of DW soap & water and a bottle of 25% solution of alcohol and water
first drink the alcohol and water
just kidding eh
but the alcohol & water does help the film bend around curves, alternate between the 2
you will get some bubbles so what you do is work them out best you can, but you won't get them all so the rest you pop with a pin and squeeze out the air/water
good luck counselor
Ya - ride wrap in Whistler does it for a very reasonable fee. The shipping from and to Whis - not as reasonable.
Try Hoffs, and talk to Tim. See what he says!
TBF, he did a really amazing job.
I've done Ridewrap twice now, first time was gloss on gloss Norco, second was matte on matte SC. The Norco took me 2 hours, the SC 4 but both came out perfect. Your lucky in that you don't have to deal with the single hardest part (top tube to tall seat mast). I don't know why the SC took twice as long as the Norco, if it was the matte finish or if I had more soap in the mix.
I worked almost everything by hand. Just be patient and keep working the water out with your thumbs. Sometimes it will feel like a section won't go, i.e. working the section over and over for like 30 times and then all of a sudden that 31st time it sticks. And totally not a big deal to start a piece over from scratch, just give it a thorough spray to start fresh.
Oh, and don't 'pop' bubbles, just keep working them out, redo the piece if you need to. If its small and just won't go then it will probably disappear once you get it in the sun.
YMMV but 3yrs later no probelms with popped bubbles
I got all googly eyed and bought a DVO Sapphire for the Ripley. I'm mostly excited for the easy service (I like fresh oil in my damper).
Now I'm on the list for a Topaz when they get back in stock.
Well, almost time for summer knee rehab season:

I got a roadID tag to put on my heart rate monitor arm band. It has my wife's phone number and says I'm an organ donor...hope that information never becomes relevant while I'm out on a ride.
Anyway, they put a coupon in the box that I thought someone might want. It's good for $10 off any ID.
The code is: 843GG86PGWG9HG
I believe it's one time use only, so please mention if you use it.
Chains, brake pads, and tires for the upcoming season. Usually place a JBI order with a couple friends but every single part number on our list was out of stock so I had to scrounge for stuff on ebay. Gonna be an interesting season supply wise. Just happy I have a bike to ride
A handful of new tools, building a “tool box wars” case for them.
Photos to come.
Ordered this for my 4 year old.

Yesterday I finally got my 2020 frame rebuilt with new components. It took a while to get the XT 12-speed. I had to send the hub back to Onyx, too (they made a running change to their axles a few years ago). So obviously I woke up to an inch of snow today.
Bought a new CK headset to replace cane creek junk. Sent Cane Creek shock to be rebuilt.
Debating whether I should have just bought a Fox instead. Might still sell the rebuilt DB Air and buy something else anyway.
New parts trickling in for the above build

Finally got fed up with my Shimano dropper lever and bought a Wolftooth light action remote. I thought I had a few of the cheap chinese remotes left but I apparently sold them (on here) so I had to spend mucho $$.
This damn obsession brands have with clean cockpits and tacking everything on the brake lever is a bit annoying. The shimano I-spec stuff works well enough but I could never get the brake lever position I wanted without forcing my thumbs into an excessive workout to actuate the shifter and dropper remote. Style before function all the way.
As far as positioning stuff there's really no way to beat the adjustability you get with a simple bar clamp.
Still waiting on some different foam of variating thickness, but here is my pliers layer.

Experimenting with knife cuts, hot knife cuts, hot flat soldering tips.
I have a buddy who CNC mills the foam out for super professional looking cuts.
My tools and layout will change from my initial set up. I’ll wait until I have a perfected layout and then go the CNC route.
More photos to come when my foam arrives next week.
I'm stuck on the fact that your chain tool is in your pliers layer. There are good arguments on both sides of that issue and I can't decide how I feel about it. And now I'm way too invested in this question.
This is making my brain physically hurt.
I realize this is a personal failing. Doesn't change how anxious this is making me.
It’s right with my chain quick link pliers. Is the chain tool not just “a press/punch” like the hole press/ punch (for race plate numbers and another special secret use to come!)
Maybe my other layers will help explain the method to my madness?
