Coronavirus complaint/commiseration thread.

Since this is the complaint thread, I have one. Ever since this virus shit has shaken up the markets, the mortgage biz has gone in the shitter. My usual sources, that I submit loans to, are priced way out in left field now, as they are taking huge losses at this time. That means I have had to shift to some new investors to continue to offer my clients the best rates available. I am over these new inept companies. The stress of dealing with them has me ready to retire, so I won't be quoting their pricing anymore. Ya, my pricing will stink for awhile, but I will be able to sleep at night again and fuck off all day while dead.

And when things are good it's really good, but we aren't making money now. And yeah, I don't qualify for any assistance due to my income level last year. On the other hand, I'm in the middle of divorce mediation and this shit is kind of hilarious in terms of perfect timing.

This sucks. Just decided to order some bacon and other great stuff from Oscar's Smokehouse, and they arent shipping until at least early May. Bummer.

How many ski industry companies applied for and received PPP loans that do not need it, ie covid19 has not yet affected their biz or will not be affected.

Ski sales are dead this time of year so you are right it has not affected their biz much. Yes I know of some who have applied anyways. The 'will not be affected' is doubtful. I don't see people getting their spending power back 100% before fall. And if they do, a bunch will start saving cash for the next wave. Justifying new skis or jacket will be hard for the middle class. (Businesses that sell ski jackets and also year-round apparel are definitely hit.)

The State of Utah encouraged ALL businesses to apply. I think it's a strategy of keeping UT strong of course, but for each biz owner, who are in good shape, are still thinking, 'if we don't apply, our competitors will'. It's stupid not to apply, even if it's also morally stupid to do so.

Bicycle and outdoor p&a to stores. Some bike shops are open, the rest of my dealer base isn't. Most of them that aren't open won't need what I have to offer for months, maybe not at all this year depending on how it goes when they are allowed to reopen because they were well enough stocked to get the year started but it didn't start. Haha. I remember setting my recorder on fire when I was done with it in middle school. If my parents knew, they didn't stop me.

The funny part was 10 years later, when I had to play the record in the BS intro to music class I took in college for an easy A. Drinking beer during recorder practice was a memory I won't forget. My roommates fucking hated me.

Traffic is back to normal here.
More businesses seem to be operating, regardless of legality.
It seems like kinda everyone just decided to ignore the order all at once today.

Yeah but when they don't want you in the store it gets tough, like I said they just default to their top 2 or 3 suppliers and focus on what they have to do. The stores that are open are killin' it, to the point that they don't want to take extra time to go outside their routine unless something they need is sold out and they need an alternate.

With things so over the top busy in so many places and with supply chains broken nothing is on sale, there are no special terms to be had because you don't "give it away" when the demand is sky high and the supply is in the toilet.

I expect the situation would be different if I didn't live in the hot zone. 93% of the cases in the state are within 60 miles of my house, the county in CT that's 10 miles from my house is the hardest hit in that state too and 45 minutes away NJ is getting slammed. Nobody in the other areas wants us dirty, diseased tri-state people even near their town/county right now and it's transferring through to their business decisions. They feel that they're under stay at home orders because of this area and the resentment is palpable.

they flat out advertised 3 people only in the store, don't bring your family, no browsing so don't come in unless you are gona buy something, customers are calling wanting this bike or whatever haven't got that but got this and cha-ching high end stuff flying out of the store ... some big days

the never-maskers refuse to obey the shopping aisle directional arrows at Smith's. saw a masked firefighter high-five some never-masked bro of his who he hadn't seen in days. apparently the meat aisle encourages such behavior.

took a pay cut and hour reduction today... counting it as a raise.
