This is way too late to be useful for last Saturday. But maybe useful to answer in general. Looking at a forecast like that, if I'm keen to ski I'd go for it, especially for the morning shift. With those kinda numbers I wouldn't be too concerned about wind hold. Comfort, maybe. Plus wind is weird, and sometimes is totally mellow even when the forecast is harsh (or vice versa...).
Yeah, 20-30 with gusts to 45 is prime Eldora weather. I.e., normal. You never know, but that has been the forecast for many of my Eldora ski days.
Sad that another person died as a result of hitting a tree on Sunday. That place sure does rack up these types of deaths.
I was the first one down Placer, today, and didn't die even though that sign said I would. It was pretty great up there, today. They only reported 1", but there had to be at least 4" and there was another 2"-3" on my car and snowing hard when I left. It was boot deep in the glades. Get up there tomorrow if you can.
Very nice. Glad you had a good day up there.
This what the snow stake looked like right before they cleared it around 4 this afternoon.

Kids school has late start tomorrow and I’m missing his actual bday the following week cuz I have to travel for work one of two weeks of the year it’s required, so we’re playing hooky and cruising up. Hoping they get a few more tonight.
It felt that deep back in the glades. Gully skied like a dream.
Late start days are bullshit and kill any chance of me getting any jobs done, so I take the kids skiing on the first Wednesday of every month. It's pretty great having a monthly scheduled midweek kid ski day.
Tomorrow they want to ski Mary Jane. I do too.
Did we settle on the 7th for the meet up? If so, I’ll shoot up as soon as I can early afternoon
I'm iffy but interested for tomorrow.
I kind of blew my skiing-instead-of-working time for the week by heading up yesterday. And I have no regrets, because yesterday was fluffy and great.
But some sunny turns and possible parking lot beers sound nice for tomorrow. I might be able to sneak up for a couple hours.
Something came up for me. Regretfully can’t make it.
I'm still game for tomorrow if there are others willing.
I should be able to get up there 1230-1 ish. I’ll prob go either way and will text you. May be able to coax a neighbor to ride along
I'm out. Looks like a gorgeous day for it but work needs doing (does work ever need doing?).
Bummer, as I was looking forward to meeting some of ya'll. Maybe next season.
will be up for closing Sunday with a few non mags. grill will be manned, beverages will be cold. holler if you're there
In case anyone is interested. I've been volunteering the last couple of years and I have a lot of fun doing it.

Opening Day is Clusterfuck Friday Nov, 3rd.
Wow, that's hard to believe. I checked their website a couple of days ago, and it said Nov. 17 was opening day -- now it says Nov. 3...
Although they got over 13 inches out of the last storm, here's what it looks like right now:

What's more bomber than rock skis? Maybe I'll mount up some 2x4s?
Looks like a death trap. Wait ....
damn, tied up tmrw... but maybe I'll try to pull a clusterfuck sat or sun!
and we gotta pull off the clusterfuck carpool this year
I was out yesterday during the peak of the storm, MUCH needed cycle
I know Eldora, it gets windy but holly hell that was a blustery one. Stuck on Indian Peaks chair for about 20 mins and then slow rolled it to the top. Called it day after a beer in Timbers but ended up having another beer in lot waiting for road to clear. Apparently a 2 wheel drive went off the road and into lake but did not see it.
Alpen and Indian still on wind hold today.
Edit to add this chap, he came skating up while waiting for lot to clear. Stood there for a good 5 mins wondering where the hell he was

dam, got Pio'd
Just saw that Eldo uphill is free w/ ikon or regular pass. Maybe thats been the case for a few years but last I checked it was 99/year for anyone.
Looks like it won't start till after holidays though - by that point, caribou or others hopefully have enough coverage
What time on weekday mornings do the various lodge buildings start to open?
I'll be doing plenty of Eldora this year because of kids. We skied Saturday afternoon and it was... uh... windy. See you all out there soon.
contemplating braving the clusterfuck tomorrow, but don't want to pay the SOV fee. Anyone going up and wanna carpool?
SOV fee?
(googles)
oh shit
Weekend/Holiday Single-Occupancy Vehicle (SOV) Fee: Boulder County requires Eldora to collect a $10 fee from SOVs on Saturdays, Sundays, certain holiday periods, and weekdays with 10 or more inches of new snow (cards are accepted; cash is not).
good to know. going tomorrow with my kid (for < half a day.)
windy af today, top blown off exposing hardpack and a bit of ice. at times it was so bad it was like a better-than-average east coast day!
