Curious how easy or difficult it would be to rent some piste skis around Vendul’s? Something like Kastle fx95 hp for a potential low tide conditions
No joke. Was the IG story this morning on the new gondola at disintis?
Same. Going to travel with the tweener mid-fat but if it's firm and there are groomers to zoom, might be pretty fun.
easy if we talk eurostlye piste skis (95mm still considered solid all mountain) but maybe swiss pricing - maybe ask vendul if he has a spare pair of skis...
Don't go to the Alps to ski groomers. If it is high pressure, go as high and as far a possible. If the avalanche danger it too high, stay low in the trees. The Euros come here to ski our groomers, not the other way around.
The map is really drawn in a misleading way. The Gondolas are fine and of solid length but the chairlifts between Gütsch and Schneehühnerstock are rather short. Different ratio between them and Schneehühnerstock-Gondola than on the map if my experience did not misslead me.
Some nice short runs down to the road that runs along the railway are possible if you don't mind to "nordic" it to Nätschen.
I'm bringing one setup and relying on that alone. Hope it works out. CD104Ls, Vipecs, and Hawx XTDs.
$27/day for the premium skis at Intersport. Obviously going with the Atomics because of color.
Those are gonna look $$$ on these:

Only 2 here. I had to choose oootah or Europe, Europe won. Thought about flying into salt lake then to Europe but wanted more days in Euro land.
iceman, sfb and I warmed BBIU up for y00s d00dz
I just jumped in. Many thanks to Buster and Amex points for making this possible!
Called Vendul and he said that his place is booked solid with Mags but he took the time to help me find a place close by. He seems like a great person to be at the helm.
Looking forward to a week of nonstop adventure and a lot of laughs.
I’m in for a guide if that’s what the plans are
Fuckery on the part of Iceland Air... cancelled flight.
Unimpressed with the outfit, to say the least.
Options include refunding the fare or rebooking on a different day... but the latter would make the ticket non-refundable. Not comfy with the shifting schedules and general feel of the setup.
I'll probably get the refund and grab another ticket with a more reputable carrier. (Is there such a thing?) Delta has an ok option, looks like.
MoFro shared these flights and is in a similar situation with other travel immediately prior to this trip.

That's shitty.
Skied the BBI skis for the first time this weekend. Think I'm not going to hate them on lift served days.
Anyone coming early want to get out for a day tour between 15-18th?
Sucks.
Check fares for Air France, British Air, Lufthansa and Kayak. I usually go with one of the major Euro airlines.
Then there's this:

Just checked: there's British Air flight for $584,Seattle to Zurich, 03/14 to 03/25 : https://www.kayak.com/flights/SEA-ZR...t=bestflight_a
I would not fly United if you can avoid it.
Here's a flex schedule that has a number of BA flights for sub $600:
