Another thanks to Fred Pabst for the Kennebec Highlands trail tip. Rode this route yesterday and it was definitely rugged, backcountry singletrack. The crown trail around the summit was the highlight - exposed rock slabs were made for a different feel.
Climbing up A trail was a gradual but still a hard push. Ending with a 2+ mile (mostly) downhill was a welcome finish.

Rad ride at Bear Brook yesterday, didn’t see a single rider after mile 2 or so. Highlights included watching a porcupine climb a tree, and this guy pictured plus his compatriot in a Trump 2024 shirt scream and run around while being chased by what appeared to be a single bee. Not quite NE.....
Drove to Alma, Quebec from NH last week for work. Stopped at Mt. Sainte Anne and took a ride on the gondola. Proceeded to eat shit on the first trip down, wrecking my rear brake lever, which locked up my rear brake. Quick trailside repair got the wheel spinning at least.
At first glance, trails looked pretty smooth.

155 from Quebec City to Alma is pretty sweet. This lake is at ~2,600' right next to the highway (Lac Jacques Cartier?). Second picture is a few miles further down the highway.

Made ordering at Tim Horton's challenging, but I love that the fact that quite a few people up there could give two shits about speaking english. New brake lever will be here today.

Did the full Base Camp-Sherburne-Gifford Woods loop on Saturday. Not the full monty, but one good loop (~2 hours). Save for 2 100 crossings (one a blind S turn- freakin' terrifying), the full zone makes for a kick-ass day. And this is not to mention the 4+ mile loop they've just about funded and will soon break ground on that will climb the ridge above Gifford SF and connect to Velomont.
Sickter stuff. Go KMBC.
