Ah, you're right. I was remembering incorrectly. Tough is 60 tpi with an extra wall to wall layer of stuff (I don't think they specify what that stuff actually is).

Tell them to make a tubeless ready BBG knockoff in 29x2.1 and 2.35. And not a 2.35 that is almost a plus tire. An actual 2.35. Neither made out of paper nor lead would be nice too.
And wtf kind of value/performance ratio is $70 for a 29x2.3? It's less than a Schwalbe, I guess?
I just measured the two sizes of the Chunk tires. The 3" on WTB Scraper 47s is exactly 3" and the 2.3 on Stans 25s is 2.25. These are to the outermost point of the side knobs not the casing, that brings it down about 1/4" on each.
What if I don't run 12psi on 30mm internal rims with 2.3 tires for xc and trail?
I think your ruler might be broken.

new bike new tires
the 5.5 comes with a tubeless 29" 2.5 Minion DHF EXO on the front and an Aggressor EXO 2.3 on the rear
I definitely feel the loss of some traction when it rains and the trails get wet but otherwise plenty of traction out back and out front I just lean on the 2.5 to unload the agressor a little so it slides around corners a bit ... lotsa fun eh!
These look interesting

side nobs look better though. too bad they are staggered like the ardent.
Got my first week riding 29x2.5" Minion front and 2.3" SS rear. The SS is way skinnier than the Rock Razor, thought it was going to feel like a roadie tire, but the combo is riding great. DHF definitely sticks in and doesn't squirm in paved berms like the Magic Mary seemed to do, feels like glue. Good shit!
Oh, if only the world could measure up to Midget Bazar's self-impressions.Quote:
Your peeps might ride like pussies. I'm with you man much less than 30 psi on just about anything and I start spending money on tires and rims.
Midget can't ride smoothly, so whoever CAN ride smoothly must be a "pussy". Meanwhile, Bazar's the only vagina in the house!
OH BOY! SELF-PROMOTING ON TGR AND SPANKMONKEY FOR OVER A DECADE!

Ha, I forgot all about ride monkey.
Summer is fully entrenched in town. Shits getting dusty. Not long for some alpine now. Looks like it's getting dusty in here too. Wendy's should make tires

Anyone see these available anywhere. Tried to order some last fall but no go. Be nice to have in the tool box

Search for "nippers" or "end cutters" to find the non-bike specific version of that tool. Should be available in a small wire cutter size all the way up to a big bolt cutter size.

The depth gauge on the Schwalbe ones is a nice feature. You can order them directly from Schwalbe's web page, or your LBS could order them with their next direct tire order. Also available at Jenson, Art's ect. They run $45 from Schwalbe, where there are multiple options for $15-20 at Home Depot (but no depth gauge).
The snips work a lot better on harder compound tires, the hard compounds snip clean and the soft compounds rip. If you have a soft compound you're best to use a razor blade like the old days before these fancy tools.
Dee, you own one of those?
Are the cutting ends shaped any differently than what you can get at a hardware store?
I personally don't own these. My buddy who is sponsored by Schwalbe has a set and snips his own treads. I drank a few beer together as he prepared some race day set ups. They are no different (other than the depth gauge) then a generic hardware store pair in my tool box.
Here is the best image of how the snips are shaped.

I'm convinced that a Schwalble pro mechanic was using a generic Knipex end snip, and asked Schwalble to build one with a depth gauge.
Yeah not sure that feeler thing is worth an extra 25 bucks then.
Cool. Checked last years catologue and they weren't there then. Looks like they're out there now. Razor blade might be the ticket though. Currently happy on my tires , thought I'd bevel the leading edge and see how much faster they'd roll.

Exo/grid would not be able to repeat this. Just put one on the back. Why'd I wait so long, oh ya I'm cheap, just full control play time erry where. Also , another clue, further reinforcing my suspicion of Sam on mich '18. #racingrumours
