Went up rmr today, got some surprisingly good snow in the north bowl, up to about halfway down from the lemming line. Also dropped in south bowl from the sub-peak, kind of slabby/wind scoured, but not too bad. Turns to sticky schmank as you get closer to stoke chair and then surpringly fun april corn on the lower mountain.
Also wondering if anyone has recent beta on the pass, I was considering heading out somewhere monday.
I went out and skied Montana Bowl today. First lap was from the cat track, through the mellow alpine, into the Montana trees. The alpine was fun, but the trees were tough skiing, with a mix of mashed potatoes and crust. We then skinned up the ridge dividing Montana from Kokanee and dropped into Montana Bowl from the top. The snow was fast and generally pretty soft, but had a weird consistency to it. There was lots of loose wet avalanches that had come off the ridge into Montana Bowl in the past few days, so there was a lot of battling debris as we traversed below the cliffs to get some more good turns. The skiing from the cat road to the Catcher's Mitt was more mix of crust and schmoo. Once we were back in the resort, it was spring skiing in the sun the rest of the way down.
Hmmm with this chill coming in, looks like awful crust down low for a while, but hopefully smooth snow up high. About to head to Wheeler and then Asulkan for the next 4 days.
Did a top to bottom of rmr today. Things are cooling off now and had to ski most of the way down to start getting some corn . Didn't have the sun like we did yesterday. Anything off groomer is in rough shape. Need snow.

Good Exploring snow. About 10cm on top of a very supportive crust. Sleds were hooking up well, some big climbs to get out of here.
I went out to the Bonney moraines today. Skinning the deathcrust without crampons was... tiring. Couple cms of dust on crust above 1700 ish made for alright skiing at the top.
This years rogers pass trip left today but I decided to give it a pass and maybe come back in a month... sounds like maybe it was a good call
Also was out at the pass today - went up Little Sifton. Heading up via Grizzly Shoulder was better than expected (although we had been warned about the tricky up track - a few bits were really heinous even with crampons - the rest quite reasonable). Once in the alpine conditions steadily improved from dust on crust to pretty decent snow with no crust. The higher the better. A bit of wind effect coming down the other side but skiable. Suncrust forming on direct south slopes as well. Dust on crust skiing from 2100m down to 1700m. Below that was supportive crust - luckily no one had skied Grizzly West after the last snowfall so ski out was not too bad with no old refrozen tracks to avoid.
Connaught up track seemed pretty sketchy - felt bad for the guy out on his split board for the first time - seemed like the hardest part of the day.

That appears to be an incredibly steep skin track. I doff my hat to your ability, though I sure as hell wouldn't want to go up it.
More than a few locals passed me heading for the pass yesterday . Must be something up there. Has to be better than the hill at the moment

Spring skiing for a few hours in the afternoon each day at Red. Mostly skiing the same few runs, as it's boilerplate everywhere else. Sharpening my edges for the weekend.
Surprisingly good skiing in the alpine at Kokanee. Hard as fuck at lower elevations, but softish winter snow above 7500'.
Did a quick lap in montana yesterday and the snow was starting to facet making skiing "okay" and interesting once in the tress. fluff of snow on the way should improve things beyond the boundaries. It's trying to snow right now. Here's to hoping anyways
I went and checked Avalanche off the list today. We ascended and descended via NRC Gully. The lower section of NRC Gully was horrible. It was an unbreakable death crust which made for brutal travel going up and even worse skiing going down. Lacking ski crampons, I actually boot-packed a good chunk of it. Once we got into the bowl itself (circa 1700m) the conditions improved substantially. There was anywhere from 5-20 cm of snow, depending on wind affect. It was like that right to the summit. On top of that, the weather was perfect, the stability great and the views spectacular.

Skied the East face of Mac today after a night shift. Super fun and sloughy, took our time picking through the cliff bands and found way better snow conditions than i expected but i wouldn't say sending anything in there is a fantastic idea at the moment. Getting down was a nightmare, i was informed later that you can huge the left of the drainage and make it back too greely but we skied all the way down on lots of old ( big ) avy debris and skin up bullet proof refreeze for several hours instead, much more fun!

Photo was taken yesterday from across the valley.
Alpine still skiing quite nicely. Busy day in Connaught. The skiff of fresh snow helped the ski out tremendously (at least yesterday). Pic of 8812 bowl - probably another 15 or so tracks down the bowl after the pic got taken. Not much solar effect yesterday except on direct south aspects.

Found some fun snow and sun on Sunday. Southern Monashees, about 10-15cm on top of the crust.
Wicked crew, hit a bunch of new lines, got a couple summits.
