My old manager posted it on FB a few minutes ago... he said it was dumping up there right now, too.

not sure how much it's dumping...i just came from the post office in vail and the sun was out.....the sun is out in Edwards now and it's a toasty 44 degrees.
According to Vail's FB page, the opening was apparently a complete mess... people trampled, lifts delayed, etc. I wish I could have been there.
Shitting on Hoosier Pass and Mosquito Range
Don't blame me I voted for JoJo
i just don't understand the love for bsb....1 tree run back there is worth skiing and the rest is really uninteresting. I'm glad it's open, it'll thin the crowds on the front at least.
Bwahahahaha. Breck is frickin amazing right now and no lines. Good call guys. What a shitshow over there.
I took my chances and got 8th chair on 37. It was like skier cross when the rope dropped near 21, complete sh*tshow. Took two runs off 39. Snow was very soft and a lot deeper than I expected.
after some rain, snain, and snow...the sun is out in Edwards and I bet it's almost 50 degrees..super warm. The higher elevation resorts of Summit County should be the call tomorrow and I actually think Breck might be the call on Sunday too. Just way too warm over here and tomorrow looks warmer than today until it cools off. Maybe Abasin if they get Pali open which is the rumor.
Smokken,
Apparently your old boss was the person in front of me. I'm the guy in the blue jacket in the bottom left of the picture.
I rode up at LL yesterday. They probably picked up 6" over night although I didn't check the snow report. Skied nice in the morning, but by 12:00 the weather had broken and everything was much more wind effected. Nothing open yet so just laps on the obvious runs.
Was hitting some the rock drops on Lulus in Horseshoe. Seems the LZs are good to go. Just watch for sharks when the runout flattens (keep left). Super fun to get on something steep again, and huck my meat, of course. Nice chalky snow up there.
6 got cut up fast, but I got in some really nice laps.
Windows have some heavy wet snow. Definitely like blasting crud back in the PNW. #2 and #5 were getting overlooked by most and super fun.
One of the chutes beyond may open tomorrow. Saw trollers setting up closed signs at the end of the (super rocky) traverse. I skinned up the Back 9 from #4. Had to play a little cat and mouse in the trees to drop near Broadway while they were setting up ropes. Super fun, fast steep pitches up there. I always forget how steep they roll over. Too bad they're so short.
Thinking about LL pass tomorrow. Anyone hit it in the afternoon and saw how much it was douched?
Fuck look at all the timber on the ground past the chair.
Check out the slab at 1:40 lettting go, wow

^^^ That is a pretty cool video.
So much fun yesterday, so beat this morning. Happy to hang around a racecourse and recuperate today. Skied from 8:30 am at Breck to 7 pm at Keystone, including some skinning for deepness and bumps in the dark and of course the joyful steepness of Horseshoe bowl.
Summit County sucks, people, go to Vail. edit (or Loveland)
Lindahl, you freaking rip. Fun. :yourock:
someone needs to post that pic on their facebook. I would be I'm not allowed to post on their wall from too much trolling... lol
So we're landing in Denver at 7:30 Sunday morning and driving out to Vail. Fully expecting I-70 to be a total junkshow. What's the over/under on drive time?
I,d put over under is at 4.5 hours on Sunday am in the middle of the storm.
Ouch. Double digit snow totals and late morning start. I'd guess 4-5 hours. Depending on road conditions in the front range, and whether Georgetown/Vail Pass is temporarily closed. It'll probably take you an hour to get out of DIA, so between 12:30 and 1:30 you'll be parking. On the hill by maybe 1:30 at the earliest if you have to check in somewhere. Almost worth it to relax in Denver and give up skiing for the day, and head up in the afternoon, so you're fresh for any Monday refills, bright and early. Might beat sitting in traffic, especially if you have kids.
Maybe drive 285 to 24 to Minturn....
Thanks. The crew I'll rolling in with are all type A++ personalities. "Wait" and "Can't" aren't in their vocabularies, and this is their once a year ski trip. Should make for an interesting drive out.
Make sure u check cotrip.org to see if 285 isnt closed due to high wind/ blowing snow if u end up taking that route. If it is open, I recommend Mason's BBQ in Fairplay. Their brisket and ribs are worthy

Smoke lots of weed with those type A folks and the drive will not be so bad. Fuck it don't fight it...
unreal how little snow is at Vail....I've known this all year but when you are actually looking at it you are a little shocked. That being said I had fun skiing today. First time out with the wife in a long time and we had fun. Gonna ski pow tomorrow...I hope.
I just gotta throw a little brag out there - yesterday two of my ski kids placed first and one placed sixth on team summit race day. So proud of them! :)
