I would have had a helmet on if I was there or if i was skiing anywhere. That's fine if helmets are not 'cool' for some folks if they are not skiing the gnar and think they don't need them, but I value my brains pretty highly.
it's not every day you see a face that would look 1000% better with a $1.50 set these:

buy a year's supply and she a keeper!:biggrin::eek:
Im glad you're getting some ( as Brit say we got ours at the weekend and it was ankle deep and its melted now)but for the sake of accuracy...what do you mean by 3 ft of powder?
Do you mean the snow depth was 3 ft or that you where getting 3 ft of ski penetration,
Usually, well at least out here, we refer to powder depth in terms of ski penetration, for instance boot deep, knee deep, waist deep referring to the depth of loose snow(powder) above our ski plane.
If it was 3 ft of pow( which it may well have been) then it means you were skiing with powder up to your nut sack or waist depending on your height.
You need a pretty steep pitch to ski waist deep powder without getting bogged down or else it has to be 4% blower if it's flatter terrain.
Please clarify!
A bit farther South, but my buddy didn't have his skis, so he borrowed his friend's snowboard. He's never snowboarded before....
In workboots.

That's what we wanted, thanks for getting that up. Looking forward to this winters adventures.
Dress a tad warm...,maybe? Or maybe it was to compensate from 6 celsius hotel rooms. You should see how we played pool down there.
Helmet? Wrong guy. We Canadians call it a toque. I even believe it might have been bought at the MRG General Store.
Okay, on the road again. Google says I'm 5 hours from home...drive should much easier than Monday night. I should borrow MattC GoPro to capture the moment I'll say to borderguard in Canada that I went skiing to WV. I might be locked up in an insane asylum or/and tested for heavy drug use.
Nice work MC and MadPat! Thanks to the mags too...mrs and I laughed our heads off last night reading this thread on a 4 inch screen. This whole adventure been a nice diversion from pile of crap on the front side of the storm.
tBatt - the sad thing is Winterplace rarely has that much snow coverage in-season. Keep the WV stoke coming!
Yes...the vertical is subpar in WV, but that shot is pointing towards the flat Blackwater River Valley (a broad valley at roughly 3,100').
I think helmets are mos def needed in the east. The trees are tight and rather hard when you hit them (birch, beech, maple).
I'll end my anal retentiveness now.
Anyone from the NYC tri-state area headed down tonight? PM me.
