I do love me some spring skiing, whether it's slush or powder or chalky.
But I'm happy that there are many people who think otherwise. I even understand it. But I don't share the feeling.

Jim Cantore is getting wood, two feet in the Greens this week, new QST Blanks arrive tomorrow. I might actually ski powder this year?!?! I was out on my road bike yesterday and it was awesome, shoulder season can deliver.
You can't be a Truckee local unless you go to Hawaii or Cabo in March. I have yet to qualify but spring skiing has never been my thing. I do it but not as often or as enthusiastically as in those glorious cold days in December and January--which for a number of years have been sparse around here as the snowy months seemed to have moved to February and March. And as soon as the corn gets ripe in the spring we get another little dump and the cycle has to start over.
As long as the snow doesn't get too slushy, spring is usually my favorite time to ride. Crowds are down, you have better chance at decent visibility, and March is usually a good snow month in the PNW.
Only challenge is fitting in the spring snow riding with the spring bike riding, especially this year, when I'm trying to get in shape for some cycling events that have me a little spooked.
It seems like the internet just stops here sometimes, but if I grab my phone and do Speedtest it's always working. Is there an easy way to monitor (and log, somehow) an internet connection over time?
whoa, what happened to my name up there? ^^edit: and on this post, too. I guess I have a new name?
I think it's the same name but a period correct spelling.
I would've thought the umlaut was pretty neolithic but okay.
We must have been h?kt.
Iceman got frozen again.
Well this time I had nothing to do with it. Although it's interesting that it happened on my birthday. Unless it happened yesterday, it which case it didn't happen on my birthday.
I have a feeling the box fan is to blame.
Happy birthday, man of ice.
Bambi. HBD ice.
Thanks fellas. I was gonna post a little age-appropriate musical selection, but the little icons let you put things like videos in a reply are gone. hmm. Let's try it the old way:..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCTunqv1Xt4..edit: well the icons are gone but the [video]..[/ video] deal works again (on the desktop version at least)
Hey it's fixed! I didn't do anything, it changed and now it changed back. One of life's little mysteries I guess. The icons at the top of a reply are still missing though.
The Sophon did it.
Who makes a super extra wide winter boot that will handle Fred Flintstone feet (width needs to be in the toolbox)? My beloved LaCross are giving up the ghost. Need something with support, not floppy boots. I can't find anything that fits so far.
Sorel Caribous are pretty roomy. OTOH I have low volume feet. They're certainly sturdy enough, but heavy. Of course mine are 30 years old. Who knows what the quality is now.
226 pages in and we’re still talking about boots that used to be good :)
Yes, there are apps or services that will monitor your internet connection. As for your phone, if you are on Wifi and your home internet stops working, then your cellular connection should kick back on and be used obviously. So you would only notice the outage of the home Internet for a brief period that could be only second or more depending on the phone before the cellular would start to be used. My cell phone will advise me that their is no internet on the Wifi connection.
A Google search will provide services (some you sign up on their web site and they monitor, others you download and install an app that checks the Internet connection.
So Facebook Marketplace has taken a bunch of the listings that used to be on Ebay, Craigslist and other types of selling web sites.
Anyone have experience with buying something (not local so no meet up can be done) and paying via Facebook (which claims there also is protection for both parties) instead of Paypal or other methods that can offer some well known buyers protection from item not as described or never shipped and received?
Any comments on trusting the Zuckerberg funds or stick with Paypal goods and services as a buyer?
My Cellphone
I have a Samsung S22 with an E-sim. When I go to Eurp I get a local SIM for data and whatever. Issue being I need to check my US SIM when I am over there.
Usually I switch to airplane mode, then enable WIFI so I don't get dinged for $10, change the SIM under settings check my shit and change the SIM back to the Eurp SIM and disable airplane mode.
Lately I can't switch SIMs in airplane mode anymore. Does anyone know how to do this? The kid at the store gave me a look like he couldn't point to Eurp on a map let alone solve my issue.
Have you ever known a woman that can open throat a beer?
Looking for a collapsible coffee filter cone for camping.
BUT, all of the ones I see are for single cup or small pots; the largest I have see fits a #4 filter, which works sorta but isn't ideal. We want to be able to make a large pot (into a thermos), so using something like a #6 filter. Any ideas?
Roku anyone?
Yeah... yeah... don't need to hear about the state of my TV or connectivity. I live where I live and things are limited so I'm thinking of getting a Roku unless you can recommend something better. Got a dumb TV (It's good and I'm not replacing it if it ain't broke).
I don't watch much TV but do like shows that seem to be going more and more to streaming.
