Thanks everyone for the responses on the touring. I ended up biting the bullet on Sunday to ski Bridger. It was worth every penny. It was a great vibe up there all day.
Next weekend I will still be poor and it doesn't look like the gallatin will be getting any safer anytime soon. With that said I still open for suggestions on tours. Tone thanks for your suggestion. Totaliboard, I've ridden Goose before. Its nice. Single, I might give the ramp a shot. I guess I really just need to get out of the lab and meet some people with snow machines.

I heard the ramp was skiing stable this week, but I have no idea how true that is. Just heard it. Bacon rind tele meadows area has some mellow meadow skipping, closer to town history rock isn't bad.
I'm trying to avoid Hyalite. Lick and History are where I have done the majority of my skiing this season. They are getting really weird as far as snow pack goes (3 feet of new snow on a 1.5 feet of gravel facets). I've heard of the bacon rind on the avi report. I'll have to give that a shot.Quote:

History rock was stable but not worth skiing today. Not enough fresh to cover the old crust and chopped up. I might need to buy the $40 guide to find better options. Ponies for a Bridger ticket Monday, it was great till midday when it was heavy and tracked.
The only thing that guidebook is good for is building a campfire. You might as well take your money and burn it. Glad the dude in the Bridger Peak slide is o.k, vibes.

In Bozeman starting tomorrow and had a quick q:
Any reason to bring skins for hike-to terrain at Bridger/Big Sky? Not planning on doing any real tours out the gates (got the old man w/me).
I'm assuming it's all ridgy bootpacks ("the ridge", duh) , but that's what I assumed for my whistler trip last year, and I definitely would've taken a few more laps on flute if I'd brought the magic carpet.
No need for skins inside the ropes.
I just scored a season pass so I can ski inbounds now! I will be up for the pinhead tomorrow and any day with snow from now till they close!

Just go up on the days where they get a foot or more, those are the only days worth going. Just ask the rest of Bozeman. Go right over to Slushmans first thing on those days too, you get a nice long break between runs. That powder snow can wear you out in a hurry if you ski too much of it. Skiing here sucks if there's no powder!:biggrin: Might as well just go to work.:eek:
Tone is right this week really sucked not worth going all week.
Tone is right, since Bridger is so small, it gets tracked out and is only worth going if there is 16 plus inches of new. I prefer Lone Peak, it is where the big mountain riders are and that is What I am. A big mountain rider.Quote:

I just think it's funny what a ghost town that place can be while the skiing is still so good. It's like a private ski area for dirtbags on non pow days, the 1% can have the Yellowstone club and the Bozeman "sick day" crowd, well, you know.

you can go out at Dakota and hit the flanks of cedar or go to fan for a long day trip. but maybe youre not doing that.
