I've skied on a pair of 2020 Rise Beyond 98s for two seasons and found them quite forgiving and composed - almost to the point of blandness. They will happily release from a turn at any point and powerslide indefinitely. Versatile corn ski because they'll do fine on both the firm end of the spectrum and the isothermal end of the spectrum.
At this point the skis have no camber left, but also minimal rise in the tails. 184s, tails detuned moderately, alpinists. I'm 5'11" 165lb. Mostly ski them with fischer transalp boots.

50% off at mammoth! Grabbed the 165 for my wife as her original 161 santa annas (100mm) are getting old and she freaking loves them. She demoed and did not love the blaze 94w while demoing new boots (didn't fit her old bindings). I figured it was mount point and maybe needing detune, so tried that with the pair i bought. Lined them up next to her santa annas and despite 4cm difference in length, the +2cm line was MUCH closer to sant anna mount point so went with that. Detuned rocker sections as my wife does not achieve high edge angles anyways and she actually liked them this time.Quote:

Awesome. Good info...thanks. Yup she got a 50% off deal as well. She is definitely not a high edge angle skier and skis she has liked have been more center mount. I'll do some side to side comparisons with some of her other skis. Probably lean towards the +2 line.Quote:

Only the Katana V-Werks is ELP full rocker, as was the regular 4th gen Mantra. If you want to pass the MVW's along (or trade for something + cash), I might be tempted...came close to pulling the trigger on that pair.
they do have camber, but like most newer Volkl's the camber is pretty minimal and soft with deep rocker zones without much splay before the very tips of the ski. As such they kinda ski like the best of both world's imho - lots of pivotability, but still grip on shallower edge angles on firm snow.
Yeah, the only full rocker Mantra was the 2015-2017 metal one.. happy to have a pair in the collection. Part of why the BMT 94 is such a unicorn is that its the only full rocker ski in its weight class ever made (I think?). That could change very soon...Quote:

Exactly this ^. Ive got these and a BMT109..and the minimal camber I think you can barely feel in the MVW, on the solid and steep you feel more stable under foot. The only answer is to have 1 of everything so youre fully equipped ;-)Quote:

My impression from reading all the responses is that the camber won’t be a big deal, and overall these are a bit heavier than I was seeking for the quiver spot but probably fairly powerful and capable ski- I’m leaning towards keeping them and just getting a bit stronger to manage the 100-200 gram per ski weight difference over alternatives that likely ski worse.Quote:

How does sizing work across the Kendo/Mantras/Katana family? If you like one in one size does that work for all of them? I have a first gen M102 in 184 that I like, so if I'm interested in a Kendo 88 is 184 the call?

Anyone got further input/time on the two new 114's [revolt/blaze] since? I have way too much overlap in the mid-fat waists in the quiver, but I really enjoyed both of those planks for what they were made for on demo day.

Can anyone comment on their experience with differences between the Volkl Revolt 121 in 184cm and 191cm.
Background: I'm considering replacing my dedicated deep powder ski which is a currently the Black Crows Nocta 185cm. I like this length for most of the days when noodling through the trees and tight terrain as it's ultra pivotable but it tends to almost feel a bit short when I open up big turns at higher speeds. My daily driver is the Black Crows Anima 189cm and I like this ski in just about anything.
From the Blister review I read the straight tape pull on the 184cm was actually 182cm and in addition I'm hesitant that the 184cm will feel short with all the rocker & splay unless I mount it back a ways. Kinda leaning toward the 191cm but not sure if it will be too much ski most of the time.
Anyone tried them both and can comment, thanks!!?
191 will put the same amount of ski before your boot re: nocta if that helps. There is massive rocker and lots of taper, your effective edge is short so your issue with moving would be weight alone.

MSRP on the M6 was $850, the M102 was $900.
The sale was 60% off, so I bought both.
That equates to ~$750 out the door.
I essentially got the M6 for $100 under retail with no tax.
And a free pair of M102's.

I love the M4s, the 191s have been my daily driver for the past 2 seasons. They are some of the most versatile skis I’ve ever skied. I sold my 187 Menace 98s a couple seasons ago because the 191 M4 was only marginally slower when ripping big funky moguls. The full rocker with long sidecut does wonders off piste, however they are a bit flexy on piste compared to a true charger like Head Monster 108. They have great edge hold though, one of the best I’ve felt on a full rocker ski.Quote:
