Well, that somewhat explains why you're such a nasty prick. Enjoy black fly season. Lay off the cheap vodka.

Still alive!
I was (sort of) proud of Baltimore's reaction to things on Tuesday, i.e. cleaning up the streets and peacefully gathering. My ex took my boys (who were out of school) to ground zero at the CVS yesterday to put up their little sign which read, "I love Baltimore".
The streets were super quiet last night due to the curfew. Eerily quiet.
My boys (age 10 and 9) had a lot of questions about what the hell was going on. I tried my best to explain (had to start with the slavery bit, civil rights, etc). We then watched PBS's documentary on the protests at Kent State in 1970, which was on at 8 pm last night. They were like, "what the fuck?!". By the way, Pat Buchanan is an insufferable prick. If you watch the documentary, you'll realize why.
Oh, I get it.
You guys hang out with black people all the time, amirite?
Take a lap, hypocrites
That's just that fat, insufferable prick Christie finding a way to get in on the action during his remarkably inept presidential campaign. Like Maryland needs more help. They have all of Baltimore county (which is huge) and the fucking national guard present. The commanders probably look at the troopers and say, Jersey, wtf are you doing here? Go back home and beat up on the Camden high schoolers.
Uh...yeah. I do at least. And, by the way shitstain: you don't have to hang out with black people to not be racist.
For mental simpletons, such as yourself, it's easy to group the asshole looters with all other black people. Paint with a broad brush, right? You are an example of what is wrong with this country and world.
Because I always pay my taxes?
Because I have always had a job?
Because I respect my neighbors?
I'm the problem?
Yeah, you must be a real prize to live next to in the trailer park.
I'm legitimately interested in seeing how parents explain all this nonsense to their kids. While you were giving them the backstory on how disadvantaged people come to protest did you also explain that it's important to not engage in activity that gets you arrested/personal responsibility/making good life choices that don't lead you to awful situations like this? Honest question, not trying to be a dick.
(And before some mouth foamer jumps all over this I'll preface it again, as with any post I've made, the death of this kid is obviously a crime and needs to be figured out and held accountable for)
Dude, as a white person, I see that you are way out of touch. His kids have never been stopped driving or walking while white. I'm pretty sure that his kids will be able to buy and sell all sorts of recreational and prescription drugs among themselves (in reasonably small quantities) without much worry at all, and, if they are somehow arrested for that, a good lawyer (re: expensive) will get them off with a nod and a wink. When the black kid gets nailed, it's all downhill from there after the first assembly line conviction. Please.
Or like the gray case he felt the need to run just because the cop "made eye contact with the victim" us white guys just nod back and go on our way; Jingling our pocket full of drugs as we go
Some people are just wilfully blind to the systemic racism in everyday police encounters.
I was pulled over once, carrying a gun and had just left a grow. Arm hairs slathered in thc grease.
The car smelled like I had 10 lbs in it. I spent half an hour in the back of the cop car, while I let him search the vehicle.
Nothing found. I mentioned to him that if he wanted to continue to hold me, I was going to need my lawyer there.
They put my gun in the trunk, and let me go on my way.
White guy checkin in!
buttaflake you dumb hick
the KKK considers you a member whether you know it or not
Well, what I said is a good start. Like, the color of your skin is like, real important as far as cops are concerned. Oh, and, I would tell my kids to be all polite and yes sir no sir with the authorities. That helps.
^ I talked to my 12 year old about ferguson, and the life lesson I wanted to teach him was that if you grab a cop, you will get shot.
I think most teenagers are aware that there is systematic racism in this country

Don't know how to embed it, sorry.
Look man it isn't because black people are inherently any different than white people. It's because these are the people that lack political power for a number of reasons and thus why they are the target. They are the only people you can do this kind of shit to.
White people and black people do drugs at the same rates. The former though doesn't get nearly as much heat from the cops. Why ? Because you can't do the kind of shit you do to poor inter city black people to white people. If you employ say stop and frisk in random white suburb X your police chief is quickly out of a job. The populace partly because of historical factors has more money and thus more political power and simply would not put up with this kind of police practices. Poor white people are considerably more rural where the numbers simply don't work.
Policing is like phone service, intercity is dense your numbers are excellent for the least amount of work. Dave has an 8th, Daquan also has an 8th. Dave's parents are classic middle class, you bust this kid he is far more likely to be a pain in your fucking ass, his family can get a lawyer who's going to rake you ass over the coals if there is any kind of procedural bullshit. Daquan ain't got shit, the semi-illegal reason you stopped him doesn't fucking matter. The big one however actually comes later. Dave gets a slap on the wrist say a 500$ fine, Dave's parents pay the fine and then yell at him alot. Daquan's parents don't have the loot, he sets up a payment plan but gets behind, they bust his ass and he loses his job for not showing up. Court tacks on another 500$ and the whole cycle repeats again and again.
Policing ain't about safety or protecting it's a fucking business like everything else in this country and poor inner city people of color are alot better sources of revenue than middle class/rich people who tend to be white.
That ain't fucking rocket science, everyone knows this. But ABC black people suck and are poor because insert stupid reason X !!!!!!!!!
First like it or not the whole slavery deal mixed in with segregation really fucked shit up, economics is a car race and we went over and stole their car and replaced it with a moped. But boot straps and other right wing fantasy bullshit !!!!! East Germany is still behind West Germany and they are white !!! Why because the laws may change overnight but the communities don't. I am in part what I am because of how I grew up and so is everyone else on this fucking planet. If your parents are fat or stupid you ass is way more likely to be fat and stupid and that shit takes generations to change if you work at it and we don't work at it.
Second our economy can only exist with poor people, if it doesn't get poor people we import them. Capitalism fucking loves illegal immigrants, repubs might not because they love feeling superior to others more than they love real actual capitalism but that doesn't matter. If the input, the basic product, like say cotton or corn is too expensive the value added product is too expensive and the whole thing doesn't work. Rich countries eventually simply move the poor person % of their economy off shore where it's harder to see but still this system cannot work without poop people and lots of them.
There are lots of other factors, culture of victimization, destabilizing nature of constant police intervention, mass incarceration etc etc.
The point is your racist because your not smart enough to know it isn't a property of being black, it's a confluence of 1000 properties of the systems of our society. This shit is the error rate of an imperfect society.
That's complex right, that's fucking hard to fix. So it's infinitely easier to create narratives where it's simply ghetto thugs, the same poor black people we always see, there just bad eggs fucking everything up which couldn't be further from the truth. But and this is a big but we can distance ourselves from the failures of our society, we can justify 100% constant complete sellout to the almighty dollar and perhaps most important of all it allows one to feel superior to others and that is without a doubt Americans favorite past time.
the solution is that old fucks must go to sleep
christian fucks too
Good luck with that. http://reason.com/blog/2015/04/21/pe...-tampa-bike-ri What is it that a black person can do that won't get him arrested. Take a shit maybe, but only in his own bathroom.
watched the thing about Kent State last night. I remember the 4 white kids who were shot to death there. I rode the back of a Uhaul to protest in Columbus but the state troopers stopped us on the road and wouldn't let us get to Columbus. Then we drove to DC and joined the protests there. What I, and most other people, seem to have forgotten, are the 2 black students who were shot to death by police at Jackson State in Mississippi, at a completely peaceful anti-war protest, just after Kent State. White people and black people get treated differently. (So do white people and Nepalis--white people get the first helicopters.) That's how it works when you own the world.
What you described are circumstances, not life choices. But that's ok because you just wanted to make a political point and not respond honestly to my question about how Grape explained this nonsense to his kids.
If the world were entirely as you describe it, there would never be any success stories of people rising above their birth station in life, or bad hands the system deals em. But that's a completely different discussion than the one I raised and most likely for polyasshat
To dumb it down, because most seem to be latching on to something else - does a discussion to children about the riots, and the lengthly historical background that led up to them, include any conversation about the role the young person's behavior plays in how their life turns out, or how it led to that person taking part in the riots? Or does the discussion only state, the system is rigged against you/them, there's nothing you/they can do about it, so sit back and take it?
Wow. Such a dick for not knowing what a fucking dick you really are. Without trying.
Apparently all that boot polish has had a deleterious effect on your braincells.
I'm sure your kids' 'life choices' will be just fine considering their 'circumstances.'
Fucking closet racist.
why don't the poor black babies grow up with a burning desire to attend Haaaaahvard, like I did?

Yay! The 65 year old revolutionary from Lilly-white mountain town chimes in to call someone a racist! Point out exactly, in detail what I said was racist. Oh, and while you're at it you should probably learn how to spell racist before calling someone one.
Or are you not mature enough to handle a conversation that doesn't place 100% of the blame for someone burning down their own neighborhood on "the system".
You must have been a blast in the 60s man, truly your time to shine I bet.
Yeah...I told them that it's ok to be pissed about what happened to Freddie Gray, but it's not ok to burn shit and loot. There are better way of getting your point across without looking like an asshole. Then I told them about non-violent protest and MLK. My older son said MLK was killed. I said yes, but his message is stronger than ever because he was martyred.
So...if the world is entirely as you describe it does the fact that a small percentage (and for the sake of discussion people in question - poor, inner city black) rise above their "birth station"...mean that everyone in that situation is so equipped, or able or should be expected too?
You do know that burning shit and stuff and the threat of it happening further was a significant part of the civil rights movement?
Yes, it has to include the discussion about poor life choices and personal responsibility, etc. But if your goal is to explain why someone would choose to engage in violent protest (rioting, looting, whatever you want to call it) you can't white wash the discussion into one about personal responsibility and poor life choices being the only things that lead to their current condition. Because it isn't that simple (frankly, it would be great if it was that simple). Lots of people have been out in the streets for the last week peacefully protesting, point out the non-violent way to your kids. Hell, take them down and see whats going on. See the thousands of people peacefully protesting. Maybe explain that violence is not okay, no matter who is dishing it out and who is receiving it.
I agree, and I never alluded that it was solely bad life choices that put those rioters out there - I was wondering if the discussion included all factors; systematic and personal. Looks like it was per GA.
I also agree showing kids the good and peaceful. Some of the best photos I've seen all week are the kids walking up to and talking to cops on the line or neighbors getting out the broom to clean up the mess in the streets - everyone talking to each other.
