Yeah, the box is fucking stupid. It is shamefully dishonorable and goes against the spirit of the game. If you want to see it, draw it on your own fucking TV with dry-erase markers. I used to have a red dot in the middle of my computer screen for some reason. They should just draw it on the ump's glasses.
The glowing puck I remember would light up like a comet when it was moving fast. I believe that was prior to the wide-spread use of HDTV, however. I didn't like the glowing puck but tracking down the puck on the old TVs could be maddening. HDTV has massively improved hockey viewing, at least for me, just for the simple fact that you can actually see the puck at almost all times. In the old days, I kind of spotted it by the way the players were acting and reacting.
I also remember an effort of putting glow in the dark strips on a football for an NFL (or USFL? XFL maybe?) game.
Re: Big Earn: The chick in Kingpin is absolutely SMOKIN'. No, not Munson's landlord, the other chick.
The NFL line of scrimmage is useful, as is the strike zone. The NHL's comet was more distracting than helpful. And HD really helped too.
"shamefully dishonorable"? get over yourself
[edit to add] I will concede it's not necessary on each pitch, but the summary of pitches is a good look at the at bat
I kind of like it. It's just that it is just off to the side a little so what looks to be a strike on the corner is actually not a strike when they show with the box. Fucks with me.
John Clayton out as well.
And this harbinger of doom:
"Among other changes at ESPN: a focus on more personality-driven programming such as the new morning show starring "Mike and Mike" host Mike Greenberg, set to premiere early next year."
Yay, that's just what they need. More lifestyle segments.
Wow, more Lame and Lame? I heard they hate each other.
Other than live sports, I watch highly questionable and occasionally PTI. Does anyone watch any of their shows anymore?
Clayton was one of the few I actually listen to what they have to say. PTI is good (but on when I am at work-occasionally catch pod if subject catches my interest) and I still listen to Mike & Mike pod(the hour + overview one), but other than that, pfff. Unless there is a game I want to watch, ESPN is pretty dead to me.
I watch PTI (even if it only focuses on sports in Chicago and the east coast), Highly Questionable and sometimes Around the Horn. No time for anything else, and the network has way way way too much focus on basketball.
The Professor, yeah that was the one guy I listened to as well, but I'm a Seattle fan and I got better reporting from him on 710 ESPN Seattle radio than any segments on TV (he was always a guest reporter with 30 second reports). The good news is, he'll keep doing that part. And what a class act he's been today through all of this. Basically just thanking ESPN for the opportunities and the 20 years.
I heard they asked Ed Werder to do draft coverage the day after they fired him. Yeah, no.
Just can't believe those guys are gone, but those clowns at First Take are still employed...and multiplied, with Skip going over to FS1. Just hard to believe the format of 'scream dumb shit at each other' gets viewers and ratings, I do everything I can to tune those programs out.
People should check out the Dan LeBatard pod. It takes a few shows to get used to as it's far from typical sports radio but it's actually pretty good.
I think pretty highly of DLB, he's a sharp dude.
Lately MLB Network has been my white noise tv watching. The live look-ins are good. Putting Pujols AB's on in the watch for #600.
This is front-page worthy news to ESPN now? Jesus H Christ. This type of shit shouldn't even be on the local Ohio news. No wonder ESPN sucks so bad.

I was in a restaurant a few weeks ago and they were debating which Denver QB should be the starter going into camp. Is that even interesting to Denver fans in April?
Anyone else notice ESPN has been broadcasting some of MLB Network's stuff? Wtf?
I mentioned it up thread somewhere. Chris Rose of MLB network was on a sports talk radio show I listen to right about the time when ESPN laid off all those people and he said that they're so upside down on content that Isnt related to NBA or NFL that they're going to start paying for other networks content. For example you now see quick patch afternoons on ESPN2.
MLB Network should have told them to fuck off. I'm guessing they didn't due to the terms of ESPN's baseball contract.
This womens softball series game is kind of interesting. 16th inning, been watching since the 12th. I hope somebody wins.
Is there not a bass tournament happening somewhere they could broadcast?

Would anyone bang Kate Fagan? Such angry eyebrows.
Spin her 180 and bend her over and administer a good old fashioned grudge-fuck.

ESPN talking heads last night saying over and over how great it was to have the Horn-Pacquiao fight on "free tv"
This says it all for ESPN... this is the lead story on their homepage. Jesus they've fallen far... whoever is running the ship over there needs to be shit-canned.

Not to send this to polyass, but good lord this is stupid.
Not to mention that the Robert Lee in question is an Asian guy.
Is that real?
Talk about pandering to the truly stupid.
so do sports broadcasters named Jefferson davis or thoma Jackson(stonewall) meed to change their names ?
idiocy.
They were talking about this on the national news outlets this morning (TGR broke it first!) and they all said, "this has to be an Onion article" like we all did. ESPN was getting hammered and when asked for comment they doubled down on stupid with some bullshit answer that in no way addressed their thought process.
