AI search for water polo:
“Water polo can be a physically demanding and competitive sport that involves some violence. Players can exhibit aggression by kicking, punching, scratching, biting, grabbing, head-butting, holding, and sinking. The most violent area of the pool is often in front of the goal, where defenders consistently pummel centers.”

I had multiple serious injuries and my teammates son who played D1 had his face completely smashed requiring surgery.
I did not say the game was not a battle. You called it “lawless thuggery” “who can get away with more” - which in the game noted, Hooper rightfully received a penalty that was essentially 120x the normal exclusion time plus a penalty shot for throwing a punch. Sounds like a law was implemented and he didn’t get away with shit…
Plenty of serious injuries and resulting time in an OR from other sports… my guess would be polo has significantly less than any comparable ball sport.
