cool bones ripper avatar
Nice photos!
That guy is smiling.
High traffic these days- every attempt I couldn’t ski it. To many Mec”ers trying to side slip down it realizing its way over there skills. Skied climbers left- possible double hole in wall with ropes and ninja skills. We just went fall-line, drank brews at bottom and contemplated calling rescue on the group stuck in the classic that clearly had little ski skills....
Pilfered that off a buddies fb post. Thought it was cool also, despite being many years since ive skated Thanks Theres shit talking up there too I hear its busy over there these days. Lots of young engineers in cowtown getting after it

Went for the waterman twice. Both times there was a big ice patch at the top. Ended up skiing the Y couloir the first time and north col the next time. Waterman(not sure if thats the spelling)i think is the most aesthetic and remains on the list. Attachment 331726Y on the left and waterman on the right

Haven't skied any of 'em, but damn, check out this lineup. Mt. Baxter (southern Sierra), north side, which I admired during a crest tour that came out via Sawmill Pass.
Purdy. Looks like you’d need to camp there for a week to get in as much skiing as you want
Nice place to set up camp for a week

Leuthold's, such an aesthetic line. Surrounded by massive rime formations on the way up, a hell of a view from the top for sunrise, tight choke, onto 1500ft+ of powdery apron bliss

Epic thread, perfect for hot humid dayze on the river plain. Thanks, all.
This pic of Steve Romeo in the chouinard couloir is one of my favorites of all time. Look at that slab he triggered on lookers right of the choke :fmicon:
tetonat.com is a lifetime of stoke if you’re ever looking for a reason to procrastinate. RIP Steve, thanks for the pics and the motivation!

Repeating the Morning coffee routine. Red sentinel couloir, great N facing pow line.
Approaching from the backside, East hourglass couloir is the obvious line right of the summit in the background.

^^, It was great coverage in the guts. Fan we managed to avoid all rocks but it was just a strip about 20feet wide that had a meter ish depth anything right or left of it was 30cms to rocks but super acceptable for November 1! Also a perk to be able to drive up the FSR for access W/out a sled.

Steve and I were coworkers and friends for years. We worked at Moosely seconds in summer of '97. He'd take a run for 5 miles into the park on his lunch hour. Dude was in crazy good cardio shape.
Once, he and I were riding up Sublette and I spotted a bag 'o weed on the snow. Natch, we skied down and just as I was ducking the rope, he says he better go get it because he has a jhmr jacket on and I couldn't afford another pass corner clip for ducking a rope right beneath the chair. I says ok...
Fucking guy smoked half a bowl with me and kept the rest. We laughed about it later but at the time...
He was a special one for sure, saw and skied a ton of the Tetons most will never see.
Rip old friend.
And Onufer too.
Steve Romeo rocked. He helped me on how to rent a canoe for when I skied Moran. Then later on when I was attempting the Grand, me and my bud were camped in the Meadows and he and someone came skinning by as we were getting ready at 3 am - he’d left from the trailhead - and said “Just getting started?” Animal, and a cool dude.
I thought there was, but I can’t find it. I tried 2x, 2010 and 2011, never summited. First time, when Steve R. skied by, me and my partner were slow and groping around (Grand jongs). By the time we got to the Stettner it was too late, we were seeing sluffs, and we especially didn’t want to be climbing as Steve and his guy were skiing down. So, turned around.
The next year we tried again (I thought I tr’d this too, but...) we camped at the JHMG platforms up by the Teepee but overnight a brutal storm blew in, collapsed the tent, and turned the perfect spring snow into frozen chicken heads so we bailed.
Life interruptions prevented further attempts.
Pic from the Meadows camp.

I thought that was commonwealth lake/peak/couloir in kanannaskis country. Looks so much like it. Nice clear night though for you

^ Middle Teton.
this is one of my favorite views of all time, fantastic pic!!
last year we attempted the middle teton couloir, and the whole time we were moving up the valley we were commenting on the wind. it didn't seem like we had enough fresh snow to transport, but while we were taking a break near the apron, we saw the whole thing come down - looked like a 6-12" that stretched 500'+. pretty spooky stuff.
we ran a quick beacon search of the debris (we didn't have eyes on the line when it slid, just noticed the powder cloud behind us) and got the fuck out of there. lessons learned - yikes.

HA.. this is the reason I had a look too. It’s been 20 years but always a fav fall ski for me. Attachment 346636
Thanks, Meadow Skipper. I need to leave my little corner of the world more often and the GT and MT are on my radar.
Moran’s easier - once you get to the mountain - and makes a good warm-up.

Ok it wasnt just me. Well done! I doubt there was really anyone else on it then apart from the 2-4 usual suspects and thats not a given.
Ive skied every slope on both sides surrounding the peak, lake, and ridges but pulled the plug at the top of the couloir after a drive from revy and 2hrs sleep. Probably the right call but still.....
Head down. Not feeling itAttachment 346706Attachment 346707
