A gem from a month earlier than Aldo's show above. The Playin as the 1st set closer is tremendous!

Just discovered the "on this day in history" function on my Relisten app. I've been listening to a full show from 1977 about every day. It's been great month so far.
That Fall 83 tour is stacked! Been listening to this over the past few days:

That's one of my favorite tours. A little before my time but I dig pulling out shows from fall 83. It gets over looked. Lots of issues around that time. Sloppy playing sometimes. Obvious disconnect from Garcia on some nights as well as others. But, fall '83 is mostly really tight. Love that one!
JULY '78 Box:
So far I've only been through the 7/1/78 and 7/3/78 shows and only truly interned in depth to the 7/1 show. That was at Arrowhead stadium and they opened for Willie. This show is rockin. They seemed to try to appeal to that crowd without getting cheesy. It worked! Not a lot of big jams it excellent playing. First set has some kinks but he Estimated-other 1-wharf rat is outstanding. The other one is short but really lively. Wharf rat is excellent.
The 7/3 show is tight too. Haven't had time to give it a quality listen without distractions yet though.
just realized i was listening to 5-9-77, a few days before the thread title. i've been stuck around 73-74 for quite a while now so that 83 show was a pleasant surprise. most of them are.
dead and co playing the moda center in july i think. and an amphitheater in washington. too rich for my blood.
I'm psyched about the pre red rocks shows on this run bec I don't know them well at all. August 7 and 8 are two of the great GD shows of all time. Get them. I have listened to them so many times since my first cassette copies in 1988; the copies of this box set I got were out of sync so I had to reorder the tunes and I was able differentiate versions from earlier in the run by ear! So many amazing versions--the band is totally in sync. Jack, peggy, s-fire, est-other one, Peter, wharf rat, I could go on and on about them and some of the other desert island versions. The estimated other one is so electric, as is the rat out of space.
Edit above: July not August. Obviously.
I enjoyed this one at work today!

saw bobby with members of the national and steve kimock in brooklyn last friday. it was great! mostly stuff from his new album in the first set. great album if you havent listened. then mostly dead in the second. very enjoyable
I watched the show from the Cap on Sunday night. It might still be available for free on nugs.tv. Really good stuff. I think playing that style for Weir is the best place for him at this point in his life. Seems at home and in tune with the music.
Hopefully this group will do another tour.
Cool shots CW!
Bobby sat in with Phish last night in Nashville and owned it!
It's so freaking good.
'Bout to listen. Heard it was good.
^
I heard the same, definitely will be listening later.
This show had my interest all morning. Really clean source and a sleeper show, check out Phil throughout.

I've listened to a bunch of Bobby's new album but prefer it live better. Great backing band. The National justs seems to fit well (and they have cute backup singers!).

i don't miss her when she's gone except on the stuff i have personal attachments to that she is in and makes her unique contribution.
I was going through some boxes in the basement today and found a pic I forgot I had, taken by a friend from the 10/11 show during St. Stephen. About a year and a half before my first show but definitely a great run.

Just had a long exchange w a friend about those msg shows yesterday! We were talking about the huge storm that night and about how 10-12 is amazing as well (huge cold rain, looks like rain, and maybe best slipknot ever!?) phil shared mic earlier at Santa Fe and then it wasn't till 84 and why don't we do it in the road w phil getting his mic. Amazing to think what they had to do on 10-12 after the monumental breakout at 10-11... but give 10-12 a listen too.
That is a kickass photo btw. Phill had the double red white blue wristbands on both arms and a lab coat like thing on
