I am not sure I'd risk going skiing anywhere tomorrow.
Not sure you’re serious.

Let's bring back the stoke. Yesterday was mighty fine in the back 40 and the rest of the week looks just plain bonkers. Rejoice, we're finally in it! Attachment 482169Attachment 482170Attachment 482168
If I was not working, I'd be going. That said, it's going to be extremely windy and absolutely dumping tomorrow. Obviously, it's not a risky bet, but I would lay money on road closures. Sleeping bag, a real warm puffy, food, an emergency kit kind of weather to hunker down for the night if it is not possible to get home.
That's what I mean, be prepared in case you get stuck somewhere. I don't recall having seen many blizzard warnings in the Cascades.
Last blizzard warning was in 2012 and I think they're only been three or four in recorded history.
Sounds about right. It's the real deal lining up, that's for sure. Obviously, most of us can handle the drive, but many cannot and they are our problem. I'd say it's also going to be real rough for WDOT to keep up on the plowing too with the drifts and the high rates of dumpage. Then there is the zero visibility oh gosh...why is everyone stopped (or piled up) in front of me sighting way too late even going way slow...
In any case, hopefully some get some sweet turns, and all are safe. Those of us that are keyboard warriors are just jealous.
My vague sense is that 40% of the time the Gondola closes for wind they also close REX. Forecast sure looks like tomorrow is one of those days.
🤞🏻 I'll make it up there Wednesday
What if you don’t have to drive over a pass and it’s only 10 miles? I wouldn’t go if I had to drive over the passes or Chrystal or Baker. I bet the passes are closed tomorrow morning.

VPF has gone plaid.
Tomorrow will likely be a Tesla graveyard.
I'm waiting until things settle down later in the week. Should be a windbuff burrito supreme at the forecast temps.
Crystal's conditions page already pulled the plug on upper mountain for tomorrow

Still I might try and clear my schedule for some pow skiing at the resort this week...

Made a few laps at the pass. Snuck in before the road closed. Dumping no stop. Great storm skiing. Definitely pack a sleeping bag, extra food and beer if you brave the highway tomorrow.
Boner!

Yesterday…..
18" new at Alpy Base, 14" new in Green Valley, 20" new at Brooks base. so far..
Coming in strong for sure! Eastbound I-90 closing at 8.30 for Avy control.
Pretty tame "Blizzard" at dweebus. But enough to cut Power to Elk and Campbell Lodge. Good day for pocket sammies. Country club mini golf face shots most of the day. I'll take it. No patrol work of any kind unsurprisingly. Back tomorrow for the inevitable cluster...
Ghost town and deep wind buff at Mission.

2 meter base says it's time to open Alpy!
Hwy 2 is closed, so there that. Will be curious to see how 90 fares tonight.
