Went by a construction site in Reno tonight and everyone of their Porta potty's was tipped over. Signs of a good wind event

Yeah. It was hella windy down on the coast yesterday.
Just changed back to snow in Glenshire 6,000' at 0800
Who is headed out to hit up the Sugarbowl Picnic tables today?

Looks like I need to kick the spiders out of their summer home and get my skis patched and tuned for another season

So, I assume Sugar Bowl will be blocking access tomorrow as they prepare for winter operations? Anyone planning to go out tomorrow am around the north / west shore? I'd rather not pay $45 for a lift ticket at Mt. Rose for a few open trails that'll get tracked out in 20 minutes. Storm is definitely going to over-deliver (since it already has).
I am thinking of doing some north shore backcountry. Nothing crazy just an easy tour to get the season started. PM me if you are interested.
Big fat wet flakes for the past few hours in Meyers with a few inches of accumulation.
I almost forgot how much a shit show 50/Pioneer becomes on snowy Sundays. It's amazing.
If you or anyone you know wants some ski tuning done hit me with a PM. Hoping to tune for a side job this winter. Used to race and have all the equipment to make your shit fast. All edge bevels, stone work, fluoro wax, roto brushing, base cleaning, etc. reasonable rates.
Only thing I really don't like to do is ptec. I live in truckee but my tune equipment is in TC. get at me
Hourglass today was deep, heavy, fun

Waking up to winter at 7,700' with more on tap this week. Kwood webcam snow stake is covered but the cornice cam looks promising as last leg of storm seemed to favor south of lake
Has anyone tried skinning at kwood this year yet?
Was short on time this morning so I skied a quick lap on Glacier / Sunrise Bowl. 1.5 - 2 feet of heavy supportive snow with better coverage than expected. Only a few people out there so far. I remembered to change my boots out of walk mode so I'd call it a success. ;-)

Yes Toby I've been out there twice it's all good. Went out this way today, South side needs more

Do those two crazy looking couloirs go all the way?
Looking at rose area from Tahoe city today, saw showers firing up there almost all day. Any reports? Thinking about an early tour on the way to the airport
There's three. The big one in the center splits above the big rock and there is another going up diagonally to the left you can see the tiny part of the crux.

Yes. That would be Round Top off the PCT - Crescent Couloir and the other that splits is called... umm... up for debate as per this thread last year? Was there a final verdict on the name, I don't remember?
Also: even steeper than they look. I've never skied any of them.
here's seanhav in moon couloir in similar conditions (11/13/10)
and here is the lookers left the next day

^^^Upping the gnar factor, but that doesn't even look fun. I still propose the looker's left be call Full Moon.
[ATTACH=CONFIG]193180 It was like this in the Tamarak area on Saturday before the new snow. It has to be pretty sharkey with new snow covering the stumps etc..
Heading out to Tamarak in the morning. Anyone get out there today?
Hit Sunrise Bowl again this morning before work. The cold temps overnight sucked some moisture out of the snow so it was actually better than yesterday...
