hey Powtron, did you guys hang onto the 102 molds? I know everyone is stoked about the 108 steeple with the BG layup, but the 102 with an inbounds layup always sounded better to me.

semantics!
It would be pretty awesome if On3p made a line of Inbounds RES skis setup like the Kartel series, like a Billy Goat 108, 116, 124. Maybe sell more cease and desists if they were badged as Billy Goats too..
I'm still dreaming of the 196 Billy Goat.. With the new RES shape, I bet it would be phenomenal.
How does the Steeple 102 ski compared to the Kartel 106?
For inbounds jibbing, or if you just want good edge grip combined with the maneuverability of a jib ski, go Kartel.
Steeples are directional, although switch skiing can be done, but not big switch landings.. I haven't skied them, but have skied Billy goats and steeple 112s. RES is loose, like full rocker loose, but more along the lines of Katanas or hojis, where its super loose when needed but will also bite when needed.. Although RES has a totally different feel, and no wheelie effect.. It's just ready to do whatever, whenever, and it's far from traditional.
It depends on whether you want a relatively thin, light, directional, 3D snow ski.. Or a wide, damp, bidirectional park/all mountain ski.
Hey Scott, I really want a Billy Goat, but in a 187, and 110mm underfoot, and 1mm more camber, but 2mm less tail rocker, and a layup halfway between the tour and standard, and weighs 7lb per pair, and I want it to tickle my nuts when I turn left. You should totally add that to your catalog.
No a blown up billy goat to 124 waist with all dimensions
If it ain't broke don't fix it
Can my skis be different than ^those assholes? That's really all I want
The steeple 102 won't have the new RES design for this year.. So I bet the new steeple 108 is as good on firm as the 102, but better in pow.
Just customize that in a standard layup. Having that option is amazing as is.
I find on most days it's not the skis that hold me back.
There is camber underfoot on the steeple 102, quite a bit. More than the steeple 112, and much more than a Billy Goat.. About as much as my viciks. Flex wise, they aren't too far off the vicik either, but they do weigh about a pound lighter per pair, so the softer the snow, the more the steeple will shine.. It's definitely a soft snow shape, and most people are not in the market for a 100mm powder ski.
For hard conditions, and groomers, the Kartel series will hands down be better. The sidecut is simply more "normal".. For tight trees and chutes, they will be both equally as good, it just depends on the snow conditions.. For powder, 3D snow, and soft manky crud, the steeple will be a lot less hooky and maneuverable, and feel more predictable as well..
Thanks, interesting ^^^
If you plan on using them for hard pack, go Kartel.
Are you still looking for a ski? I think you'd like the wren 102 from last year.. It's almost gone, grab one quick.
Yeah Evo had a decent sale price on the 15/16 Wrens a couple weeks ago so my stepson picked up a pair 445 shipped. Sold out now I think.

Bergs Ski Shop has them online
I am looking for something but used. Posted in gear swap that I'm looking for Kartel, Icelantic Nomad or similar. The Wren definitely has be interested too. My gut tells me Kartel would be perfect but it's obviously hard to find used.
There's a thread in GS with an impressive on3p quiver for sale.
^^^ I know, but it's for Washington locals (not me)
Pretty sure a local will pickup and ship.
They're beautiful skis but unfortunately not what I'm looking for (Kartels or 102 Wrens).
While I think the Kartels would be the best for me, I'm more than interested in the Wren 102 and can find them easier. Can someone comment on how they ski in trees, tight spaces and tricky terrain? Do you have to be on top of them all the time or do they work well at slower speeds in hard terrain?
For reference, I'm 6'-4", 220 and currently ski on 4Frnt turbos. My biggest fear is that the Wrens are not playful enough and want to simply straight line. Although, at 23 radius, it seems like they could be? My Turbos are 28m so this would maybe be better?
