So now that Volkl has fucked up the Mantra and I'm in the market for new skis, the 102 Wren looks interesting. I'm also thinking I need to slow it down a bit, so I'm considering embracing the indie ski non-metal floppy tipped lifestyle. Could you guys who promised to write up reviews on this ski back on pgs 1-5 get your shit together and let us know how you like this ski? :wink: I'm a 6'1 200# EC skier so I'd go 186's.

Bought to head out for day #4 on my 102 Wrens. The tips are most definitely not floppy.

I got out on the 183cm demo C&D's on Saturday at Loveland. It was all hard pack with small pockets of soft. They really came to life in those small pockets, I bet they are a blast in soft snow. For how big they are they skied hardback well and bumps ok. Thanks again Powtron for the help.

Doesn't matter. These tips don't flop. Don't be a beater and quit skiing in the back seat. Bamboo does not behave like the woods used in other indie skis. It's very damp until you get some energy into the ski, much like a metal ski. The while time, the tips won't flop. Check out the profile pictures of any ON3P ski. The girth alone will show you that these are not skinny noodle sticks.Quote:

As far as being a beater. True, I'm not sure I'm good enough for a set of indie skis yet. I still ski on a 9.5 DIN setting and have yet to embrace the full 18 DIN TGR experience. I'm thinking 102 Wrens might up my game enough that I can finally buy those 18 DIN FKS and hang with y'all. Hell, I might even go crazy, move out West. buy a 2001 Toyota Tacoma with a backyard lift kit on it and slap some ON3P and FKNA stickers on the tailgate.

While we are on the subject of the 102 Wren, can anyone compare it to Moments Belafonte? Someone who has skied both in various terrain would be sick. Looking at adding the Wren to my collection, will fill the 100mm void nicely.
Just picked up a pair of 12/13 BG tours 191's. After an exhaustive search I haven't been able to find the rec. Mount point. No marks on the sidewall. I'm 6' 190#. Use is mainly for bc. Mount these exact center? or.......
