I was leaning more towards back on this ski, thanks. Naw, I have toe conflict as well. I should be close maybe not a full cm back.

be cool to try that kartel 106 if you do a demo in revy. looks fun as
So now that Volkl has fucked up the Mantra and I'm in the market for new skis, the 102 Wren looks interesting. I'm also thinking I need to slow it down a bit, so I'm considering embracing the indie ski non-metal floppy tipped lifestyle. Could you guys who promised to write up reviews on this ski back on pgs 1-5 get your shit together and let us know how you like this ski? I'm a 6'1 200# EC skier so I'd go 186's.
I'm skiing Viciks and Lhasa fats, no floppy tips here.
ON3P does not make floppy tipped skis.
That said, the Wren 102 would be an excellent, slightly less demanding Mantra replacement.
Bought to head out for day #4 on my 102 Wrens. The tips are most definitely not floppy.
Planning to hopefully leave some more detailed feedback about them in this thread, tonight: Ongoing Review: 14/15 186cm ON3P Wrenegade 112
I got out on the 183cm demo C&D's on Saturday at Loveland. It was all hard pack with small pockets of soft. They really came to life in those small pockets, I bet they are a blast in soft snow. For how big they are they skied hardback well and bumps ok. Thanks again Powtron for the help.
Also hoping for an SLC demo day...
Been skiing new-to-me 09/10 BGs in this latest Utah storm cycle and loving them, but would like to try the new BGs in 191 with RES since my BGs are 186. Also want to try the Jeffrey 114/122
Been on the fence about forking over 7-800 bucks for new skis, but my Billy Goats are 4-5 years old and in great shape. The early season Utah snow pack has not been kind to skis, but while my K2s and Libertys have had to go to the shop for massive core shots, the ON3Ps look hardly scratched after skiing the same stuff. Makes me clearly see the value in the ON3P builds
Doesn't matter. These tips don't flop. Don't be a beater and quit skiing in the back seat. Bamboo does not behave like the woods used in other indie skis. It's very damp until you get some energy into the ski, much like a metal ski. The while time, the tips won't flop. Check out the profile pictures of any ON3P ski. The girth alone will show you that these are not skinny noodle sticks.
Exactly why I'm interested in the 102 Wren. I know the spec I like and it ticks most of the boxes. It's not easy to demo a pair of Wrens on the EC, therefore my interest in seeing some feedback from you guys in various conditions.
I skied a pair of the original Wrens for a few hrs on a West trip. I liked the way the ski was constructed, so my floppy tip comment was not bitching about ON3P's construction. The big Wren is not a ski for 90% of days on the EC, so when a skinnier Wren pops up I'm interested. Even if the tips are floppier, I'm ok with that. I'm getting older and I'm embracing both floppy tits and tips.
As far as being a beater. True, I'm not sure I'm good enough for a set of indie skis yet. I still ski on a 9.5 DIN setting and have yet to embrace the full 18 DIN TGR experience. I'm thinking 102 Wrens might up my game enough that I can finally buy those 18 DIN FKS and hang with y'all. Hell, I might even go crazy, move out West. buy a 2001 Toyota Tacoma with a backyard lift kit on it and slap some ON3P and FKNA stickers on the tailgate.
You should go more 98 Tacoma, to be honest ;)
The Wren 102 is not as stiff as the the 112, but it does not flop around. It has been a big surprise to us even at ON3P, and everyone who tries it comments on the mix of ease of skiing and stability. I feel it is the best EC ski in our line (more so than the Kartel due to a flatter tail).
Just left some brief thoughts on the Wren 102's here: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...-Wrenegade-112
A ski reviewer I am not, so forgive the babble.
Was poking around the website and noticed some actual dates for the NorCal demo days. iggy or PowTron, any ideas on a location yet? Thanks.
I stopped searching at page 7 of this thread to try and identify an actual rocket photo of the jeffrey 122's. Does anyone have a rocker pic? Someone said they have a bit of camber. Not worried about it but was hoping to see the differences in the 122 and the many caylor pics I have come across.
Aaaaaaaggggh!
No more Vicik, fk me.
Oh well, if/when these stick wear out its on to the Wrens.
While we are on the subject of the 102 Wren, can anyone compare it to Moments Belafonte? Someone who has skied both in various terrain would be sick. Looking at adding the Wren to my collection, will fill the 100mm void nicely.
Just picked up a pair of 12/13 BG tours 191's. After an exhaustive search I haven't been able to find the rec. Mount point. No marks on the sidewall. I'm 6' 190#. Use is mainly for bc. Mount these exact center? or.......
Call on3p or pm the riders PowTron or iggyskier
I have a set from the demo fleet, and like the mounting location. I'll pull a measurement when I get home later today.
