Damn I might re-think skiing Sunday. Warm rain + windy temps in the teens = ice skiing.

Power out at the house, trees down, insane rain a few hours ago, tropical storm winds, WTF. Car was packed and ready to roll back south. Hope smuggs snowpack held up, it was quite the shitshow for most of the morning. Older dog was so freaked out she jumped into the bathtub for cover, lulz. Here's the apocalypse rainbow!

I'd be more pissed if I had mounted sticks, and boots to ski, anyway. Any boot fitter recommendations? Willing to drive to some parts of VT or NH; haven't gotten new boots since I was 14, so it's about fucking time.
It was definitely deep on the upper mountain. When we left at 12, over 3k was wet snow, graupel and sneet. Down low was sneet and rain.
This morning was however the best skiing yet, this whole week delivered in a huge way. We all agreed we dont even care that it was raining.
We got in the steeps and trees today, everything is skiing incredibly well. 3 feet easy on the upper mountain. Felt like 6-8" more fell over night.
Some shots from today. I have a some other ones I will get up soon.

Tbatt- bummed to hear about your grandmother. I think your grieving will be assuaged in spades with a season in utah. :yourock:
Summit Ski&Snowboard in Framingham seemed to know their shyt when I went there.

but that must have been straight WILD to be outside in. 11:35pm: absolute dead calm; 11:45pm 5mph breeze with a stray 58mph gust; 11:55pm BAM ... 85mph sustained & 118mph wind gust. woof.
anyway... right now another absolute downpour is cruising through stowe... teaming sideways.
It was the same at Edelweiss. I was told that Fortune and Cascades were closed due to power outage. Skied 13 runs on apocalypse snow...TR at 11. It was Heavy...and wet, but never turned to rain. It was really limit at around noon, but changed back to fat flakes when I left at 1pm. I had to be back in town at 2.
Their calling for Ottawa an extra 10-15cm overnight plus 2 cm tomorrow. My guess was that they was around 25-30cm at the hill.
Looks like I will be driving from Portland to Sugarloaf early tomorrow for the day. May have room for 1 or 2. alternatively if anyone has room for 1 or 2 let me know. Will try to get in Crank's slipstream-man drives fast and skis fast too.
Rain or snow at the loaf? Alarm is set for 4am but radar looks green and yellow....hoping I'm just looking at it wrong...
So the loaf is our only confirmed snow, eh? Who's gonna have the 3am VT update?
I'm sitting five miles from the loaf access road, it's pouring rain on my deck.
BOSTON AREA MAGS
I got fucked so not going to make the 9pm showing of Chasing Ice tonight in Cambridge. Four tickets at will call someone please use them!!!
PM me doggies.
^^^ thats like the opposite of good
based on my experience skinning both before lifts open for the day and accessing terrain that is "open" but not open, the riv is much more chill about it.if you've done both quite a bit at both hills, correct me if i'm wrong. a snowcat sees you skinning at the riv before dawn? they wave hello, maybe even a thumbs up. the loaf? i always get shit for it, every time. unless i can avoid them. not avoiding buying tickets.
