I’m back looking for a bike. Last bike was a k1200. It was a beast.

Looking for a street bike in the 80-100 hp range. Tough to find bikes for tall guys and Indont want another large GS type bike.

Rode a new triumph trident, awesome bike but no leg room.

I may just buy a new klr and live with the 40hp.

I’m selling my Versys if you’re interested in that. It’s probably 45 HP, but a lot more fun than a KLR.

We successfully avoided Jeep safari weekend in the MOBE by trailering the bikes 25mi from town. We did not see a single person out there, save for a single group camp on the main road. Fun times and explored roads less traveled. Attachment 412609Attachment 412610Attachment 412611

I have a 2-month 15k mile trip planned for the summer and this bike’s a little more suited to that.

Enjoy, I have been riding one for three years now, and the bike is way more capable then me.

Got my brother on one and he is loving it. He is glad he didn't do the T-7. In fact a T-7 owner road the AT on our last trip through Death Valley and is now thinking about selling it for an AT.

I've been looking at the T-7 for the last few years and really can't find much wrong with it. The AT seems like a pig to me, like my old KLR.

Horses for courses, for sure, but I’ve ridden a KLR a few times and the AT is nothing like it, IMO.

I haven't ridden the T7, but my brother had. He has been riding dirt bikes since we were kids in the 60s and is an accomplished rider. On a tour through Death Valley he and a friend swapped their AT and T7 on the road out to Tea Kettle junction. Both said the T7 was more dirt bike like and fun to ride, but the AT was better Both on and off road as well touring bike. The T7 over was seriously considering selling it for an AT.

I suspect it comes down to where it will.be ridden most. If you want a diet bike that is tolerable on the highway, the T7 is the bet. If you want to log alot of highway miles and still be able to hit some dirt with loads of gear, the AT does a better job.

I have found I spend way more time on the highway getting to places like DV that the AT is just a pleasant ride. If I want to ride a dirt bike, I will get a small, lightweight dirt bike/dull sport.

BTW, my last bike was a KLR (it burned up in the Thomas fire), so yeah, the AT and KLR are no where near similar.

I didn't mean to directly compare the KLR and the AT in that way. The KLR is a dog. But they both seem bloated to me in their current forms. The Tenere just seems like a perfect balance for what I'm looking for. Definitely dirt biased. I don't care about highway miles or comfort, just range, reliability, and being able to actually toss it around.

Then, yesterday T7 sounds like your perfect ADV bike. People I have talked love riding it, but it is closer to a dual sport then an ADV bike, but if that is what you are looking for it sounds perfect for you. The AT is certainly bulky and definitely not a "throw around" kind of bike, but fully loaded doing 90 MPH in flukey winds it sure rides well.

Great looking bikes. Still crush on the AT even though I wish it were truer to the originals.

I'm kind of jonesing for a TW or XR650L; something with electric start that will last through the apocalypse. My KX500 is basically a garage trophy at this point. It sucks to start. Need to sell it.

That's a great looking bike. Reminds me of the ZRX1200R from a few years ago.

Poking around the Japanese big four it looks like the 750 class has all but evaporated. Maybe Suzuki is hanging on for the legacy factor.

The 650 version of that bike is pretty cool, too. Perfect bike for puttering around town I bet.

I want to go take like a week, go to the big city and just test ride everything.

Not really a good faith move though because I have no money, but I have so much curiosity about what some of those new bikes are like, and you really can’t know until you ride one.

Yeah there are some nice bikes around right now as long as you don’t want a 750 in line 4. Yamaha MT series is a nice riding bike but the looks kinda kill it for me. If I had room in my garage for another one that Kawi would be at the top of my list in the retro category. Thruxton is nice but a bit more aggressive riding position and more $. I’m 6’2” and the Kawi just fits me better.
