Thanks again for the response. Bought a pair for the lil' grocery getter—sounds like I should return and just not bother while we're in CO. Certainly can think of better uses for the money.

I'm skiing tomorrow, I'm taking I-70, I'll post a live update here as I'm ripping bowls and drinking coffee.
Looks like Glenwood Springs wants in on the I-70 shitshow action too

CDOT twitter saying 3+ hours from Golden to Silverthorne this morning. To go what, 45 miles? No problem here, move along.
How do the desk jockeys do this every week? Why don't they give up on skiing?
You assume it's the same people every week. I don't think it is.
Snowed a bunch in town, absolutely dumped in the mountains. Cue every mountain's social media department blasting Instagram/Facebook/twitter with staged pictures of some guy skiing through chest deep pow. So you get every "desk jockey" seeing that at work Wednesday to Friday. Thus leading to your perfect storm of 3+ hours on I-70 this morning.
I didn't go up this morning, but at least looking at google maps it showed that 6 was backed up for about 3 miles before hitting 70, and then 70 was at a crawl all the way to Idaho springs. Taking 6 up the canyon, however, looked like it was relatively smooth sailing
Dear bus with hazard lights on while traveling in the left lane,
Please move over.
PS You are blocking traffic and moving the same speed as the right-hand lane.
Totally random, but where did you take this picture? Great shots on your website, btw.

And to think, I almost moved to Denver. Yikes!
Agreed. I've come to realize that there are very few actual weekend warriors in the Front Range who ski every weekend. Even the really good skiers I know struggle with just once a week. Most of the weekend traffic are the season pass holders who are skiing 1 of the 12 days they'll go this season.
Lemmings. They're all lemmings.
Stay on 70 right out of Denver and leave after 6:30-6:45am, fine by me.
I went up to WP today half expecting to turn around when I saw the sheer amount of cars. Traffic was flowing well on 6th Ave, just a lot of them. Then I got to the Dino Lots and have never, in the thirteen years of living here, seen such a shitshow of cars at the Morrison exit heading up to the Mammoth Lot at 6:10am. Let alone the traffic heading up the hill.
But still made it up to WP in an 1hr 20, because there are other ways.
That said traffic on the way home was a fucking breeze at 2pm. 1hr from WP to the pnr. Even with an accident in the toll lane near Dumont.
^ Yes. Today, did not abide by the rule and paid the price. The drive uphill was soul crushing.
Happens to all of us occasionally, which just reminds us how important it is to follow the weekend warrior ski addict rules.
Left Boulder at 5:25 this morning, smooth sailing most of the way to WP 1:50 door to door.
About the same here. 6:15 Boulder blastoff, 2hrs to VP and similar time back down. ~15-20 min of traffic each way.
I just wish my SO would learn them.
Luckily she's typically cool with the Friday night, growler in Idaho Springs and board games in the back of the van for the night. She can sleep in in the AM as I drive the last mi and skin a lap or two.
But when we are carpooling 7 up in the van and she has to wake up at 5:30 to make it happen.... She must love me.
Some slow and go this AM, but the brake slamming into the Idaho Springs tunnels brought some laughs . It's just a tunnel!
Yeah, even with the tunnel widening, sheeple still can't deal with a tunnel. If they rerouted the road WB so it didn't have the sharp turn at the bottom of Floyd Hill, didn't have so many turns leading into the tunnels and then the tunnels themselves, traffic would flow so much better. Build a 6 lane causeway over Idaho Springs :)
