Given the forecast for the next few days, the harvest opportunities may start to present themselves.
Corn should be good by tomorrow and definitely Saturday, right?
This is the billboard next to the mouse hole on 89. Just in time for all of that World Cup traffic. lol....

Love it! I'm surprised I haven't heard of some mass Keep Squaw True demonstration for this weekend, but maybe there will be lots of purple in the valley and along the course.
Hmm. Well. All I'm going to say about that is KSL applied for and received a special use permit for today through Sunday for the sidewalk leading up to the Tram and that whole general area across from Plumpjack (which is public property, not owned by SVSH), so they could specifically have the right to remove certain people.
One or two posters I'm friends with on facebook have already seen me spam this guy.
But if you ski or climb in the Eastern Sierra, I recommend taking a look at this guy's website.

I found something and lost something on Powderhouse / Waterhouse this week near Luther Pass.
I found a pair of ski poles. They were on the trail near the road with nobody around and nobody at the cars. It's hard to imagine someone went up without them, so I think someone took off their snowboard / skis to bootpack to the car and forgot them? Contact me if they are yours, and I'd love to get them back to you.
I also lost a pair of goggles last thing on Monday, so somebody probably picked them up first thing on Tuesday 3/7 by 7am when I went back to look for them. I'm pretty sure I dropped them on the skin track up waterhouse (lookers left of powderhouse "bowl") probably close to the bottom. They are Smith I/O gogles with yellow and black strap and trim. I may have also dropped them at the jumps / pillow lines lookers right of the waterhouse skin track toward the bottom of the mountain. They are a little scratched but I'd love to get them back if found them!
^^^ Word. Ed's photos are the best things on the internet right now. Even better than porn and the CalTrans Quickmap on a storm day.
Still transitional snow today that's fun to ski but you have to get on it early, we should have prolly been at the top of our line by 9:30, dropping at 11:00 was way over cooked, need to set the alarm a bit earlier right now. Even though it was cold in town there was an inversion and there was no hard freeze up higher looking at least at the snotel closest to our line today which I did not even think to check today, coldest it got was 36 degrees last night at 7600 feet.
Rad line I've been eyeing for a couple years though, look forward to hitting it up in better conditions.

In Tahoe for a few days. Anyone have any hot spots for overnight parking that keeps me away from this world Cup nonsense and ideally near an epic pass resort?
Also if anyone needs a touring partner let me know.
Palisades in Squaw was real good yesterday when it opened.
I've overnighted in my car at the sno park at Boreal off 80 (Donner summit sno park, I think it is.) They'll have outhouses of sorts there for ya, not that I'd recommend an extended stay. Show up, sleep, leave. 5 bucks for an online permit. That would be closest to N*. (And closest to world cup nonsense.)
There's also echo lake sno park off 50, though I haven't visited that area in winter. That will keep you closer to Heavenly or Kirkwood. I read of crashing in casino parking lots, etc but personally I prefer sleeping in the silence and huge snow walls a bit more. Cop rolled by while I had the car idling in the AM, warming up and gettin ready. Thanks CHP for what I assume was keeping an eye out for CO poising, appreciate that..
I've slept in my car at the Heavenly CA base. Kind of bright, but I did not get bothered. That was before it went Epic. Also slept off a dirt road that brings you up toward Fallen Leaf lake, but that might be covered in snow. And I've slept many a times in my car at KW. It was not technically allowed back then, but it was not policed. PM me if you want advice about parking in valley now a days.
TahoeBC ^^ KILLING IT with the photo essays right now
so fun again at alpine today!
soft corn and porn on the backside till 11 and cold fast chalk on keyhole and sherwood cliffs after that... if only they would build big booters again!!!
I wonder who they hired to give them all this anti-protest advice. Is there some kind of neoliberal consultant firm?
Anyway, if anyone wanted to protest KSL and/or the current administration, rumor is Mikey Pence will be there. I would show up early on burning man bikes with flags and horns to weave through the throngs headed into the valley. Make some news. Have some questions you wish the media would ask Wirth or Trump like "is giving more power and money to the rich and powerful still the only plan you have?" or "when the oceans rise and your ski resort is a water park, what will you have accomplished?" Must be some burners can put that together.
noice jeff. is that the line skiers right off camp chute point? havnt skied that or seen it good to go since 2011
Yes
From Doctor Robb Gaffney my hero
$$$$$$$$$$$$
My 10 reasons for joining the demonstration at Squaw this Saturday.
1. Placer County = failed democracy with respect to how it has overridden the will of Tahoe people. Protests are the next logical step.
2. Squaw is censoring free speech and has taken away passes from people who expressed their opinions.
3. Shirley Canyon - 21 mansions do not belong at its mouth.
4. Squaw spent $800,000 to crush local people when they tried to form a town in order to have some decision making rights about the future of their lands.
5. A waterpark does not belong in the Sierra.
6. John Muir would be appalled to know his name was used to promote this massive development.
7. Approval of both Squaw and Martis West projects is frankly dangerous for the people of Tahoe and tourists alike.
8. Tahoe people deserve much better treatment from large land owners.
9. The Squaw development will further deteriorate the quality of life for people within the greater North Tahoe region. Traffic is just one aspect. Shifting Tahoe values is another.
10. The story is not even close to being over and every action taken by local residents counts.
No compromise in defense of Mother Earth. Monkey wrench.

Next years squaw alpine pass
No days a sugar bowl or s@t
Looks like $80-100 more expensive across the board?
$50 more for Gold and Silver over last year, the others are the same. That will make no difference except to line KSL's pockets a bit more.
Oh, hey, you get 5 free days at that shitty resort in China!
Oh Yeah.Attachment 202144
Wow. Sluffage.
Think 89 at Emerald Bay only opened yesterday, and its closed again now because of an avalanche.
Looking at police report looks like a car got caught in the slide just before noon, but occupant climbed out of sunroof. 8 to 12 ft deep across roadway.
Report gone now, so cannot link.
Wet slide? Would seem like it.
