So, I actually did not ski thunder, but a different aspect in in the bowl behind glove. For several reasons. I did glance back at thunder on my skin out, and saw several tracks into that same zone. It was shaded at this hour and I did not see the fractures, but was shocked that folks had skied that particular line with the loading and numerous rollover on that fall line over exposure. Glad everyone came out okay. Not surprised though that it went exactly where it went.
Thunder Bowl Slide - the aspect that slid gets a lot of sun and is usually pretty firm and always manks up first. My guess is that it was a bit more firm before the storm than the usual northern aspects of V-tree etc...
Wow. Very lucky.
Thanks to the victim for posting up the video, and for adding the slow mo and photos with notations. Very interesting.
Glad the guy is ok.
i made the right choice it sounds like, though i woulda been sleeping at the trailhead and out early. plus i got it on the 4th on the way to utah.

Had a close call today. Headed out for an afternoon tour w Mike Rubini to Some side country. There was one lone skier track already in the main bowl. It was about 1oclock and there had been a big temp change and some wind loading so we chose one of the more mellow lines. Some friends had just scored lines right around the corner. I dropped first while Rubini waited up top. First few turns were blower. As I came over the roll into the steep section the whole slope popped. I saw cracks shoot out in all directions. Next thing I was swimming through chest deep and heading for a cliff band. I leaned hard on my toe edge and tried to steer out of it. Another section broke in front of me and there was nowhere to go. Felt like a giant wave breaking on my back and I was stuck in the white water. My head was still above it and I could see a notch in the cliff band. I pointed it and aired off the cliff luckily just between two rocks. I landed hard and butt checked. I tried to pop up as the slide started pouring on my back. It started pushing me again and I started swimming w it. It pushed up around my shoulders and started covering my head just as it came to a halt. Lucky the snow was light and I was able to stand up and ride out. You can kind of see the crown left side at the very top of the snow field. Ended up sliding 5 or 6 hundred feet maybe more. Never thought I'd be that guy, reality check!
That all Acid-Yella outfit is hard to miss. Thought you 2 might be Maggots.
I came over and asked you if you were Don (thought it might be SuPu) at the SkiSchool drop in. But I got the cold shoulder. No worries.
Cinders & me had already got a couple of shots through there with a few turns in groovy untracked as you exit (we started late). We love that run!
(I paid later, when I tried to ski the wee face left of the gully entrance. It slid off to ice, and then I slid too. Not too far though, and not into the rocks on the left)
Hella busy, but not much waiting on 6 or 10 (heard 2 was redonculous).
Not so crazy on Sunday. The face under 10 was perfect soft sloughy bumps by the end of the rather warm day. Excellent finish.

Not sure if I have done this right but here's a video of the Avalanche at out the Sisters. My guess is may have happen Thursday or Wednesday but I'm just guessing. Just sharing Info, I'm new here!
Glad to hear Mikey Wier wasn't hurt. He's brought some good Tahoe stoke. Also glad to see that Mr. Castle Peak wasn't hurt either.
I just checked the week's forecast. I guess it really is Spring Break in Tahoe huh?
Wow! That reminds of the wall to wall crown in Thunderbowl a couple years ago.

Rads63, Here is another posting of your video.
All of that debris might make skiing all the way to the lake easier this summer. Maybe the "Driveway Patch" will last longer too.
Vets
Thanks for reposting it normal style and yes should make for a sweet patch!
Attachment 134508 Some fun lines from Sat at round top. Saw some slough movement and one small slab break free (4ft long by 6inch) and propagate into a terrain trap [no photo]. Nothing like TahoeBC's video though - that's pretty gnar. Which aspect was that movement on?
Just to be clear that was not my video just re-posted it, I was out early that day stuck mostly to the trees and was back drinking beer at the car 1/2 hour before that slide happened :)
BTW I got frogs croaking around my Tahoe pad, WTF...
PD way for you and Nacho to keep the stoke going.
Was going to head out in the BC this AM but lack of motivation, a pile of work, and not a lot of confidence in finding decent snow keeps me in.
Think South facing BC will corn by Thur/Fri?
Maybe we should all gather on the beach, grill, drink beer and play german horseshoes. I've been wearing sandals all week, trying to trash talk winter...not working.
Damn, that is impressive.
I'm heading to Jackson and Big Sky the last week of March. Don't worry, it will definitely dump as soon as I leave the state. Hopefully there will still be snow on the ground for the new stuff to fall on top of, at the rate we're going. Highs in the mid 60's - WTF?
Has anyone heard about KW throwing together a huge jump on the backside after April 15th so that Bobby Brown can do a photo shoot to jump over chair 4? Was in the pro shop this weekend sniffin around the overpriced sale skis and proshop dude mentioned it...Just checkin
More Corn Please!
