Ahh! Please notify them they've stolen the trademark La Grave gondola style then. My bad. Again, looks like great fun!
that thing has to be the one of the dumbest lifts ever. possibly rivaled by the other, new gondola at pitztal.
Franz: i leave july 7th.
euros, it ain't over yet....

wedndesday would be the day.
^^ or maybe tuesday, maybe too ;) .
anybody out there who wants to share gaz-costs ?
ma-fr-basel...(e+berg or zermatt)
i might make it to engelberg. but i m not sure yet.
it is still me who decides if it's a dump of the century.
what is snow level going to be like?
edit: as far as i see it, they won't take us up anyways.
why? skiing area is still open.
well, only the 2 not so really interesting lifts are open for skiers, but maybe you can ride down to "stand". peadde's pic from 16th may ,i think, are from this run.
it says it closes for skiers on 27th of may. don't think they would let us up with skis. maybe if we have touring equipment and take a single ascent for mountaineers for 35.-chf. we might be able to do some one day tour. but i don't know if that's what you are looking for. otherwise there'd be the possible to do a 2 day thing with really awesome skiing on north faces and stay at the grassen bivouac at around 2800m over night. it's extremely well equiped, with a stove and wood, and sometimes even a bottle of wine. all you'd need is a harness there are a couple of rappels to get there.. i got everything else for glacier traveling for you.
what do you think. i'd be really into that. might even do it on my own if you re not joining in. :) i just need to find out if i have time. but i should have. i ll give rotair a call as soon as you let me know. that d be 2 days of awesome skiing for 35.- chf per person.
stop fantasizing tell me rather about snowlevel.
they didn't put a park up this season. i think there ain't no summerskiing this year.
actually i didn't plan anything up till now. i'd decide depending on who wants to join in. it's more fun together. i think you have experience in glacier traveling. two novices would be a bit two much maybe.
i also haven't been up there for quite a while but i'm very sure we would find somegthing nice. the approach might be a bit of a scramble though. it's southfacing but not very long.
edit: tuesday, wednesday, thursday? i don't care. haven't really looked at the weather, yet.
edit: pn would maybe be better. sorry for offtopic.
some glacier experience but not much. my main problem is that i don't really have time to take several days off during the week. maybe drag marius up there this week while the weather is shit and then go again with me later when it's nice and we can see where we are going ;)
well. to lasy to write this shit in english -> pn in german ;)
i quickly checked on the weather. and wednesday and thursday are actually looking quite good. depending on temps one could also ski during the day "in bounds" and head for the bivouac in the afternoon kind of depending on aviconditions.
btw. i have another question for you that is actually on topic: the gfs on www.wetterzentrale.de for middle europe lists "hohe wolken" "mittlere wolken" and "tiefe wolken". how high is actually hoch, mittel and tief?
edit: i don't have no pn from you, marius.
in "mittleren breiten" the convention is low: 0-2 km, middle: 2-7km, high 5-13 km.
yeah wed does look ok. stupid uni stuff :(
changes with latitude. in polar regions high is 3-8. it should be noted that these numbers are usually given for how high the cloudbase is above ground, not how high above sea level. so the whole system is somewhat fucked up in the mountains.
